Military Academy

The Military Academy, established in 1790, is a public military higher education establishment, accredited and integrated into the national higher education system, preparing highly qualified Army and Republican National Guard Officers to lead in uncertainty and risk situations, in response to national defense and security requirements, through teaching, research, and community support activities.
The Military Academy provides master's degree study cicles, fully compliant with Bologna Process rules, independently or in cooperation with other relevant academic institutions, in four major areas, Military Sciences, Management and Administration and Engineering, and Medical and Health Sciences. The Military Academy provides post-graduate education opportunities for civilian and military applicants, on defense and security areas of interest, through master and Ph.D. level courses, specifically related to Leadership, Information Warfare and History, Defense and Security Studies.
The Military Academy Research Center (CINAMIL), promotes and conducts research and development (R&D) projects, in cooperation with other national and international relevant scientific and academic institutions, producing and sharing scientific knowledge, specifically in the defense and security area of interest.
The Military Academy International Program aims to enhance cultural, scientific, and technical cooperation, through international exchange with similar academic institutions, to deepen bilateral and multilateral relationships, mainly directed to the Euro-Atlantic area of interest and also the Portuguese-speaking countries.
