The Polytechnic Institute of Braganca (IPB) is a Portuguese University of Applied Sciences with 7000 students and 500 teachers and researchers. It has an internationalization program with widely recognized success, including the annual mobility of more than 900 incoming and outgoing students and 300 teaching staff members. Nowadays the IPB is a multicultural institution where 26% of its students are international students from all over the World. IPB is also recognized for its performance in applied research and regional engagement.
The Polytechnic Institute of Braganca (IPB) is a Portuguese Higher Education Public Institution with 7000 undergraduate and master students, embracing a wide area of knowledge and technology, including agriculture sciences, arts and sports, education and teachers’ training, informatics and engineering, administration and management, health, communication, and tourism.
The IPB belongs to the European Network for Universities of Applied Sciences (UASnet), which main objectives include the transferability of professional skills and the integration of applied research in their professional and technological education mission.
In 2011, the European Commission has awarded the ECTS Label to the IPB, acknowledging the quality of the information provided in terms of the degree programs offered and the management of student mobility within the European Higher Education Area. In 2013, IPB has been awarded also the DS Label. The purpose of the Diploma Supplement (DS) is to provide sufficient independent data to improve international transparency and fair academic and professional recognition of qualifications.
Besides the academic programs taught in the Portuguese language, the IPB also offers bachelor and master programs fully lectured in English, as well as Portuguese language and culture courses for foreign students.
The IPB was awarded the Diploma Supplement Label by the European Commission for the period 2013-2016. This label recognizes the quality of the diploma supplement, the transparency of procedures, and its importance in the facilitation of mobility and employability of the recent graduates, as well as the academic and professional recognition of the qualifications.
The IPB has already been awarded the ECTS Label for the period 2011-2014. The ECTS Label acknowledges the quality of the information provided in terms of the degree programs offered and the management of student mobility within the European Higher Education Area.
The IPB is proud to be one of the few national and international institutions that have been distinguished by the European Commission with two quality labels.
Research and Innovation (R&I) activities carried out at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB): Research Topics and Units, Technology Offers, Publications and Scientific Repository, and available Research Scholarships.
The R&I activities at IPB are in line with the priorities defined at the European, national and regional levels. Namely, with the reference documents relating to Smart Specialisation Strategies, the European R&I Programme Horizon 2020, the national Operational Programmes under Portugal 2020 (and in particular Norte 2020), and the Letter of Commitments for the Development of the Tras-os-Montes Region.
