Notre Dame Academy has been a second home and an important part of my family history since the 1960s. The Sisters of Notre Dame raised us all with their charism and traditions. Central to that charism is the Sisters’ emphasis on the human dignity of each person as the image of God. That principle continues to inform our community as we value every student and challenge each to develop her gifts and broaden her worldview. It also provides the foundation for our interaction among the faculty, parents, and administrators.
While our community has long been characterized as “nice,” this year we will challenge each other to above all, be kind. Kindness recognizes the right thing to do and acts on it. It is motivated not by what others think, but rather by selfless service. Instead of avoiding a tough conversation, kindness welcomes respectful, intelligent debate. Kindness never devolves into dismissive name-calling it listens, suggests, and might agree to disagree. It values the diversity of all types, yet understands that diversity of thought is most essential.
Notre Dame Academy nurtures the development of the whole person by recognizing the dignity, uniqueness, and potential of each student. The educational program promotes excellence and features a value-centered, rigorous, college preparatory curriculum, enhanced by technology and extra-curricular activities. NDA cultivates the academic and leadership potential of each student and provides the tools to develop self-confidence and strong habits of mind. Celebrating its rich heritage and diversity, NDA cherishes each student as a reflection of God’s goodness and prepares her to lead a life characterized by spiritual and moral growth, academic excellence, social responsibility, and a love of learning.
In light of Church teaching, Notre Dame Academy acknowledges that parents/guardians are the primary educators of their children and therefore partner with them to promote the growth of each student. Committed to forming women of faith, Notre Dame Academy cultivates an environment in which students are empowered to live Catholic values, witness to God’s goodness and provident care, and put their faith into action. Providing myriad opportunities for prayer, reflection, and service, Notre Dame Academy encourages lifelong participation in the Church as well as in the local and global community.
Notre Dame Academy offers a broad curriculum across all subject areas for the enrichment and development of our students. As a strong college preparatory high school, our offerings prepare students for admission to a variety of colleges and universities, from Ivy League schools to small, liberal arts colleges. Our robust Advanced Placement program offers highly motivated students the opportunity to further challenge themselves, and our extensive visual and performing arts (VPA) program helps us develop well-rounded students. Athletics and extracurricular activities further extend the options available for self-discovery and personal growth.
Notre Dame Academy is a Catholic, private, college-preparatory high school for young women. Based on the mission of its founders, the Sisters of Notre Dame, the Academy creates an engaging and nurturing environment in which each young woman can develop self-confidence.
Our administration, teachers, coaches, and staff integrate the mission of Notre Dame Academy throughout all aspects of the student experience. Our curriculum is engaging and challenging. Each student is nurtured as an individual with unique talents and strengths. Our graduates are prepared academically, spiritually, and emotionally to excel in college and beyond. At NDA there is something for everyone, whether your favorite thing is acting, using your math skills, or developing your legal expertise in Mock Trial. NDA faculty and staff are your advisors, a great way to get to know them outside the classroom.
