The International School of Catalunya (ISCAT) is a coeducational British Day and Boarding School located in La Garriga, Barcelona. Through our personalized and authentic learning programs, we provide students aged 3-18, from Nursery to Year 13, with formal British education. We follow the British National Curriculum, the portal to study across the UK, USA, Spain, and the rest of the world.
Learning to learn, learning to be, learning to think. At the International School of Catalunya (ISCAT), the personal growth of each student is at the heart of our educational program. Our students prepare for the future through academic challenges and stimulation. No two children are born alike, and so we respect and recognize the different needs, interests, and strengths of every student. Our students are encouraged intellectually, socially, and emotionally to achieve their full academic and personal potential. We fully believe that when the delicate balance between academic endeavor and emotional wellbeing is achieved, our students are most open to the entire learning experience. At ISCAT, we nurture the spirit of each and everyone so that, armed with self-knowledge, a belief in themselves, and a solid academic record, they face the world fully prepared to shoulder responsibilities and give their best.
We offer a stimulating, engaging, and challenging multicultural environment where the intellectual, emotional, and creative potential of each student is developed, optimized and respected. ISCAT encourages the highest standards of academic achievement and provides access to third-level institutions across the UK, Europe, and the rest of the world. The curriculum, which is compatible with the local “Plan de la Generalitat”, is based on the National Curriculum of England and Wales and brings together the best of anglophone education abroad. Shaped and guided by our slogan ‘Where Learning Comes Alive’, we constantly seek ways to enrich the academic and personal development and learning of our students.
The value given to each child’s personality, home language, creativity, and rhythm of development is characteristic of the school’s commitment, requiring that the classroom become, for every child, a place of welcome, a nurturing environment, where each individual enters happily each day, confident that his or her personality is respected and valued. At every instance, our school’s pedagogy supports high academic achievement, intellectual, creative, and emotional development for each child, and the fostering of a lifelong passion for learning.
As a British International School, we follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales from Early Years through to A-Levels. For our Year 10 Secondary students (at 15-16 years old), we offer the IGCSE examinations, the world’s most popular international qualification recognized by leading universities and employers worldwide.
