The International School of Choueifat – Amman first opened its doors in September 1997 to both Jordanians and International students K-12. Today some 1500 students are enrolled in ISC-Amman. Over the past three years, our students have won many Queen Rania Outstanding UK Learner Awards. These have included top students in A-Level subjects, the top student in IGCSE subjects, top in Jordan for English, Chemistry, Economics, Computer Studies, Classical Arabic (top 10 in the world) as well as outstanding performance awards from the AP® College Board and AP® Scholar Awards.
Many of our students have gone on to some of the most prestigious universities in the world. In the UK students have been accepted at the Universities of Cambridge, Imperial College, Bristol, Nottingham, King’s College London to name but a few. Students have been accepted in North American universities such as Yale, NYU, McMaster, Weill Cornell Medical College Toronto, and many more. Our students are equipped to study at top universities anywhere in the world.
The International School of Choueifat-Amman will be recognized as a provider of top-quality education to a highly diverse student body. ISC-Amman will strive to help all students achieve their full potential, prepare all students for success in college, equip them with the ability and desire for lifelong learning, and strengthen their civic, ethical, and moral values. ISC-Amman will maintain high standards of efficiency and accountability throughout its operation.
Nestled in the gentle hills in outlying Amman, ISC-Amman is a purpose-built school on a spacious campus of over 90,000 square meters. The state-of-the-art facilities include science and computer laboratories, a computerized testing and learning hall (ITL®), a theater, and extensive sports facilities such as a semi-Olympic-sized pool, indoor basketball/tennis courts, and an Olympic soccer field. The Kindergarten Department is an independent unit with its own indoor heated swimming pool, a large playground, and a special KG car track.
At ISC-Amman, we consider the school as a dynamic production team. Administrators, teachers, and students are all contributors to this team. Knowledge and ideas are the product of the team effort. Since students are the ones who benefit most directly from the product, they should be most concerned that the product is of high quality.
Everyone in a SABIS® Network school has a job to do everyone is accountable. Administrators, students, and staff "self-audit" to discover and correct errors. It is teamwork that allows us to reach heights that would be more difficult to reach individually. Like all SABIS® Network schools around the world, ISC-Amman is a highly academic, non-selective, co-educational, English-medium, independent day school catering for the complete individual.
ISC-Amman provides top-quality education to children of different races, nationalities, and backgrounds. At ISC-Amman, we believe we can add more value to students to enable them to perform to the best of their abilities, be admitted to the most competitive universities, and be successful in their careers. The school develops students' academic competencies, learning techniques, interpersonal skills, and personalities, in addition to instilling high ethical, moral, and civic values. The multicultural setting of the school helps students develop a better understanding of world cultures.
The curriculum implemented at ISC-Amman is specifically designed by SABIS® to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to develop a solid academic foundation. This foundation will help students achieve their full potential and develop a love of lifelong learning.
All courses for students at all levels are structured to enable students and teachers to know precisely what should be learned. Teachers teach one concept at a time using the SABIS Point System® with each lesson alternating frequently between oral work, individual work, and group work in such a way that it is difficult for students to “switch off”. Students engage in regular assessment using exams that teachers do not see in advance. Everyone in the school is accountable. Accordingly, students learn more in class and have more time for relaxation and fun after school.
Students who fall behind in their work are advised, motivated, helped, and coached until they catch up. As long as they manage their own time successfully, students' time is theirs, otherwise, help is given. All courses at ISC-Amman are structured. A system of academic tracking - the SABIS® AMS, a computerized method of detecting gaps in knowledge - allows the administration to closely follow the progress of each individual. Gaps are pinpointed as soon as they form, and efforts are focused on eliminating them. Valuable time is saved and a gap-free, cohesive structure of knowledge is built in students' minds.
