West Lodge was founded in 1940 and is now an educational trust. The main building is a Victorian house, well adapted to use as a school, whilst still retaining its homely atmosphere. Facilities include a fully equipped gymnasium, science room, art studio, music rooms, computer suite, library, SEN room, French classroom, and Crèche. West Lodge is a co-educational school.

West Lodge is a small independent school with a strong family ethos that encourages each child to develop as an individual and to grow into a caring and confident person who is enthusiastic to learn. We aim to provide a secure and intellectually challenging environment, based on a broad and balanced curriculum, which will enable each child to feel safe and to regard themselves as valued and successful, thereby developing and maintaining high self-esteem. Our children are well motivated and have very high expectations of their achievements.

West Lodge is a co-educational preparatory school for 3 - 11-year-olds, providing a caring, secure, and intellectually challenging environment in which our pupils feel valued and can learn successfully.

At West Lodge, music forms an integral part of the curriculum. It serves to instill confidence from a young age due to the opportunities to sing and perform in groups or as soloists. West Lodge has a skilled staff of visiting instrumental teachers which means that children have the opportunity to learn an array of instruments.

All Pupils from Nursery right through to Year 6 use a wide range of hardware and software. They learn to understand the important concepts of computing and can make connections within the subject because they have highly developed transferable knowledge, skills, and understanding.
