Our school is located near Cardiff city center in Canton. The building has two floors with nine classrooms, Nursery, a school office, and quite a large school hall which is used for Christmas productions by both the juniors and infants. The stage is also used to store all the sports equipment. At present, there are 250 children, 12 teachers including the headteacher, support staff, several volunteer helpers, dinner ladies, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, caretaker, and two school secretaries. Our school uniform is a blue sweatshirt or fleece, light or dark blue polo shirt and the boys wear grey or black school trousers and the girls wear black school trousers or a skirt. Our school badge shows the letter T in St. as a gold cross to remind us that we are a Catholic school.
All children are placed in one of four houses, Raglan, Harlech, Caerphilly, and Conway. From year 6 a boy and girl are chosen to be the house captains. We have a Tocyn Iaith or Language Ticket award to encourage the children to speak more Welsh. We have lots of awards in our school, The Honours Board, Community Shield, Eisteddfod Bard, English Shield, Maths Shield, a Sporting Shield, and the Endeavour Trophy for effort. We also have an elected School Council and an Eco-Warrior committee which helps all do our best to help reduce reuse and recycle waste materials.
We have an assembly on Mondays for the juniors and Wednesday for the infants. We have a whole school assembly on Friday. We also have regular class Masses and assemblies in the juniors to which we invite all of our family and friends. The infants also have class assemblies but instead of Mass have a class liturgy. Sport and music play important parts in the life of the school. We have clubs for gymnastics, karate, basketball, football (girls and boys) rugby, and athletics in the summer. All together the juniors have a choice of lots of after-school clubs.
