We are a school where academic excellence is standard and the focus is on the development of the whole child such that we grow confident, independent young women and men and strong partnerships between home and school.

St Julie’s is a large voluntary aided Roman Catholic secondary school, predominantly for girls with boys admitted into the sixth form. There are 1015 pupils on the roll, 168 of whom are in the sixth form.

We aim to be a Catholic learning community: which respects and embraces the diversity of all God's people, where opportunities allow for all individuals to discover their potential and to develop and share their unique talents, where friendship and enjoyment are experienced by all and a welcome is offered to those who visit, which provides all with a safe and secure environment, where faith, prayer, and reflection are visible in word and action, which takes good care of God's world and all who inhabit it, especially the poor and disadvantaged, where fairness, care, and compassion are central to life.

We aim to provide a safe, secure yet challenging and inspiring environment where every student is encouraged to aim for the highest standards of achievement and success in whatever he or she does. We encourage all students to embrace the many varied learning opportunities that are provided both in the classroom and outside it whilst developing an enthusiasm for learning that remains with them for life. The curriculum supports the aims of the school and the mission of St Julie’s words to ‘let them be taught what is necessary for life.

All students have access to a broad and balanced range of courses relevant to their needs. The curriculum aims to fulfill the legal requirements of the National Curriculum and RE with pathways that are developed at both Key Stages 4 and 5 to offer a more personalized curriculum that is student-focused and flexible. The curriculum promotes the differentiation of learning and teaching through the setting of students according to ability, supporting the least able whilst stretching and challenging the ablest. In some courses, students are taught in mixed-ability teaching groups across Key Stages 3 and 4.

In addition to the “fixed curriculum,” there is an extensive range of extra-curricular activities (clubs, study visits, enrichment programs, and charity projects) and other planned experiences to enhance the curriculum offer and to make learning at St Julie’s Catholic High School memorable, enjoyable and successful.

At St. Julie’s Catholic High School, we believe that all students are entitled to an education that will enable them to develop their full potential by finding appropriate challenges in the learning environment. All our students have individual needs which put personalized learning at the heart of teaching and learning. “Let them be taught what is necessary for life.” St Julie’s Catholic High School is committed to providing a challenging curriculum for every student. We will also provide opportunities to identify and in turn nurture those who are more able or require specific support.

Specific groups of students such as Most Able, Free School Meal (Disadvantaged Students), Special Education Needs, and English as an Additional Language will be supported using a range of strategies. Most able students will be supported daily within their classroom environment through stretch and challenge activities and differentiation. The SEN Department will support students with identified learning needs as well as continued support within their classroom environment. FSM students who are eligible for Pupil Premium will receive support which enables them to make progress.

We provide a safe, caring, and professional teaching environment and allow students the independence to think for themselves and engage in several activities from Christian Action to charity fundraising events.

At St. Julie's our students have the opportunity to develop their learning skills in a range of areas and we fulfill the objective that all our students leave as happy, rounded, and forward-thinking young adults.
