Welcome to St Gregory's Catholic Primary School. We are a one form entry school with 250 pupils on the roll. We are a fully inclusive school with high expectations of all pupils.

Mission Statement: “Living, Loving and Learning with Jesus”. Our aim as an inspirational Catholic school is to be a family inspired by Jesus, to be a safe, caring, and supportive community where everyone is valued and encouraged to reach their full potential. We will do this by living close to Jesus. Being a community that loves learning and provides challenging opportunities for all to grow and develop. Developing a partnership between home, school, parish, and the wider community.

Personal, Social, Health, and Economic Education enables children to become healthy, independent, and responsible members of society. We encourage our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school and the wider community. In doing so we help to develop their self-worth and enable them to work well with others and become increasingly responsible for their learning. The children reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the social, moral, cultural, and spiritual issues that are part of growing up. We teach the children how society is organized and governed. We provide opportunities for the children to find out about the main political and social institutions that may affect their lives and about their responsibilities, rights, and duties as individuals and members of communities. We ensure they experience the process of democracy in school through the school council. The children learn to appreciate what it means to be a positive member of a diverse and multicultural society.

The Government set out its definition of British values in the 2011 Prevent Strategy, and these values were reiterated in 2014. At St Gregory’s these values are reinforced regularly and in the following ways. These values are Democracy, The Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect, Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs.

At St. Gregory's we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS). This curriculum is based upon four themes and principles.

• Unique Child - Every child is a unique child who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident, and self-assured.
• Positive Relationships - Children learn to be strong and independent through positive relationships.
• Enabling Environments - Children learn and develop well in enabling environments, in which their experiences respond to their individual needs and there is a strong partnership between practitioners and parents, and carers.
• Learning and Development - Children develop and learn in different ways. The framework covers the education and care of all children in early years provision, including children with special educational needs and disabilities.

There are 3 prime areas and 4 specific areas of learning in the Foundation Stage framework curriculum. In the 2 Year and 3-4-Year-old Nursery provision, the focus is on the 3 Prime areas. Both settings are equipped with both age and developmentally appropriate resources to meet the individual children's.

In Reception, the focus begins to be on the Specific areas once the Prime areas are embedded. In all EYFS settings within St Gregory's, children spend their time within a free flow enabling environment between indoors and outdoors, and through both adult-led and child-initiated activities.
