St Agnes is a voluntary aided Catholic Primary School situated in the Parish of St Agnes’ Cricklewood, London borough of Barnet, under the auspices of the Diocese of Westminster. We are an ‘all through’ primary school with a nursery unit on site. All classes at St Agnes’ are of mixed ability and we are currently in an exciting phase of school expansion from the historic 1.5 forms of entry to 2 classes each year.
The fundamental aim of our school is to be a high-achieving Catholic community, living out the gospel values in all that we do. Our mission statement ‘The family of St Agnes lives, loves, and learns together as followers of Jesus’ is central to our existence and underpins every aspect of school life.
St Agnes’ is a very happy and successful school, where children are encouraged to give their best at all times. We recognize that each child is an individual and we work to ensure that the academic potential of each is met, whilst nurturing faith – therefore developing the whole child.
We are proud of our strong relationship with the Parish and the local community. St Agnes’ is fortunate in having a dedicated group of parents, known as FOSA (friends of St Agnes), who work tirelessly to support our fundraising efforts to enhance the provision for all our children. Partnerships with parents are essential and key to children’s success at school, thus the school actively encourages parental support in a variety of ways.
We are proud that in creating our mission statement we reached out to everyone involved in our school - children, parents, staff, and governors. Our mission statement is clearly understood by all - it gives our school purpose and upon this, we aim to build our ethos. We firmly believe that wherever you are in our school you will see our mission statement is lived - in class, in the playground, and our interactions and love of each other.
Excellent standards are achieved through high expectations, self-belief, support, challenge, encouragement, and praise. We aim to provide this for every child, enabling their primary school years to be a memorable experience, whilst equipping them with the desire, understanding, skills, and confidence to be life- long learners and responsible citizens of the future.
Everything that happens here is informed by gospel values and the teaching of Jesus Christ. We are a loving community, where all are treated with respect, where a commitment to justice underpins all that we do and teach, and where the presence of God is reflected in the daily routine.
At St Agnes’ we recognize that we are building the foundations for life-long learning with Christ at the center. We want to capture and nurture a love of learning that our children will carry with them as they grow. We strongly believe that a caring and stimulating environment is essential to the development of our children and that learning should be fun, hands-on, active, and challenging. Our curriculum is carefully planned to ensure that all our children are encouraged to reach their full potential. To achieve this the Governors, Headteacher and Staff recognize the need to constantly review our practice to ensure our goals are being achieved. Every child should be happy, secure, and confident. We value every child as a unique individual and provide a supportive and secure environment in which every child can flourish and learn.
St Agnes is a mainstream inclusive school, which ensures that all pupils achieve their potential personally, socially, emotionally, and academically in all areas of the curriculum, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social background, religion, sexual identity, physical ability, or educational need.
