Our Lady and St George’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery we opened as a Primary and Nursery School in September 2010 is formed from the amalgamation of St Helen’s Infant and Nursery School and St Mary’s Junior School. We aim to provide a learning environment that will motivate your child and instill a lifelong love of learning. You are your child's first and most important educator and we strive to build a strong and lasting relationship with you. You are always welcome — to chat, to look at what we are doing, or to help as volunteers.
As a Catholic School, our faith is at the heart of our existence. Our values and beliefs are expressed explicitly in our Religious Education program and are implicit in the life of the school. All children are taught to value each member of God’s family and each child is taught that he/she is unique and special.
Our Lady and St George’s Primary serves the multi-cultural parish communities of Our Lady and St George, Walthamstow, and Christ the King, Chingford, in the diocese of Brentwood. We play an active role in preparing children to become responsible members of this community. The school reflects the values of the Gospel, reinforcing forgiveness and building upon the children’s own experiences to maximize their opportunities.
It rewards pupils of all abilities and encourages cooperative learning and shared goals while ensuring that the talents of individual pupils can be expressed and developed. The school provides a safe, caring environment for all staff and children. All adults at Our Lady and St George’s Primary School are committed to the well-being of our children. We see our school as an inclusive community. The development of the whole child is at the heart of our mission as a Catholic school community.
The spiritual journey our children and adults travel brings with it the responsibility of using our gifts to the full, living side by side with each other as Christ would expect us to, with an understanding of truth, justice and peace. There is an ethos of challenge and a sense of purpose in children’s learning coming from high expectations in the learning and teaching throughout the school. We welcome a broad curriculum, and we prepare our children for their role as citizens of the future.
