Marsh Green is an expanding school, moving towards two form entry. Our classrooms are richly resourced with pupils using laptops and iPads daily to further enrich their learning. Visitors to school and school trips make the curriculum come to life and provide memorable learning experiences for all pupils.

All schools have their own unique identity and here at Marsh Green, we believe that we have created a stimulating, friendly, and supportive environment in which our pupils can learn and achieve their very best. We encourage our pupils to have a voice and to develop responsibility and respect from the very start in Early Years right through to Year 6.Our strong and committed Governing Body fully supports the school in providing the very best possible educational opportunities for all.

We are a music school with strong links to the community music service. All pupils in Year 5 learn to play a musical instrument and pupils in years 2, 3, and 6 receive specialist music tuition. In addition to this, all pupils from year two to six enjoy learning in weekly drumming lessons our gifted and talented drumming group are truly amazing to watch. The Marsh Green choir is a leading choir in the borough with boys and girls equally eager to join and perform.

The adults within Early Years will gather evidence on your child’s progress, make observations and use this to create a profile for the children on our online observation assessment tool called 2Simple. We encourage parents to look at their child’s achievements and you are always welcome to discuss any questions or problems with the class teacher or TA.

The governing body is a group of people from different parts of the community who come together to support the work of the school, by working closely with the Head Teacher to ensure that standards are high in every area of school life. It focuses particularly on the leadership of the school and financial management.

We ask parents to help their children with independence by encouraging the children to hang up their coat and bag, finding their name, and settling at an activity. At the end of the session when you come to school to collect your child, please wait outside the classroom for your child to be dismissed by a member of staff. Please do not call your child yourself, as we need to be aware of which children have left and with whom.

To give your child the best start at school, it is important that parents and staff work together, and share their knowledge of the child. Staff is always available for a brief word in the morning or after their morning or afternoon session.

Throughout the school year, we hold open evenings or open days when you will be able to see your child’s work and speak to the staff about their progress. If at any other time you have concerns that you need to discuss with us, please let us know and we will make an appointment for you to see the teacher. During the year the Foundation Stage will take part in a Harvest Festival, Sports day, and Christmas celebration and you will be invited to all of these activities. We also have Mother’s Day and Father’s Day parties. Everyone enjoys these events and appreciates the opportunity to come together and celebrate the achievements of the children.

Marsh Green Pupils choose representatives from their classes to attend School Council Meetings. The School Council works hard to represent the pupil's ideas and needs from all classes and age groups. If your child is aged four to six and attends a fully state-funded infant, primary or special school, they are entitled to receive a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day. That provides one of their 5 A DAY portions, and the scheme also helps to increase awareness of the importance of eating fruit and vegetables, encouraging healthy eating habits that can be carried into later life.
