Our school is dedicated to providing the best possible education for every pupil in a stimulating and safe environment. We follow a rich curriculum and aim to make learning exciting and engaging by including lots of skills-based learning within our lessons. We are committed to all aspects of education and development, encouraging families to work in partnership with us to realize our aim, of successfully helping each child to achieve their full potential.
The staff at Kew Riverside have high expectations of all the children and would like them to leave school as confident, polite, and independent young people, with the appropriate skills, values, and learning to become successful in whatever their eventual career paths will be. We are very proud of the children who attend Kew Riverside and all of their achievements, across all areas of school life and beyond.
All school places are allocated by the London Borough of Richmond of Upon Thames. Please follow the link below for information from the Local Authority. However, we also ask prospective parents to contact the school if they wish to attend one of our open mornings.
We constantly monitor the progress of our children and have an ongoing dialogue with our parents. Pupils are formatively assessed on an ongoing basis. These are shared with parents at termly parent consultations and the children's attainment and progress are currently reported in writing annually. At the end of each Key Stage, in Y2 and Y6, children take national assessments (SATs), which are both teachers assessed and externally moderated.
All schools are inspected by Ofsted every 3 to 5 years. Also, schools receive yearly performance data, called Raise Online, which is collated by the Department of Education. Recently Ofsted has launched the School Data Dashboard, which provides a snapshot of school performance at Key Stages 1 and 2.Schools receive a Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) for children entitled to free school meals (FSM) to help raise their attainment.
The Pupil Premium is government funding that is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for free school meals in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months.

There is good evidence that schools can help all children develop essential social and emotional skills through delivering bespoke sessions designed to cultivate these skills, through ensuring broader opportunities are capitalized on to reinforce skills across the curriculum and through whole-school modeling of these skills. Social and emotional skills prevent poor mental health from developing, help all children cope effectively with setbacks, and remain healthy. These whole-school programs are noted to benefit all children but particularly those who are at most risk.
Schools can support these children by providing them with additional help to understand and manage their thoughts, feelings, and behavior and build skills that help them to thrive, such as working in a team, persistence, and self-awareness.
We value your views as members of the school community and where possible, seek out your feedback so that we can improve your and your child's experience of the school. From time to time, we will use questionnaires and surveys and report back those findings to you and the actions we propose taking.
At Kew Riverside Primary School, we believe getting active and educated is a perfect way to kick off the start of a new term. Keeping that in mind, the Fit For Sport team has planned lots of new and exciting activities to keep our pupils active and engaged whilst learning the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle. In 2003 Kew Riverside officially opened its doors to the community, with a clear vision to help every child find their music and reach their potential. The founders of the school created an informal environment, with no doors on the classrooms and where everyone is on a first-name basis, intending to provide a dynamic, creative curriculum that encourages and welcomes the voice, engagement, and independence of every child.
In the early years, children are encouraged to settle in, find their feet, develop friendships and learn through play. Throughout the school, topics are used to support and inspire children engagingly and creatively.
We believe children will learn through experience, by walking the towpath along the River Thames, visiting local museums and libraries, discovering the natural world at Kew Gardens, as well as meeting Henry VIII at Hampton Court Palace. And as they get older and more independent they will be braving the zip wire, giant swing, and testing their resolve on our residential trips.
