Heolgerrig is a modern, well-equipped community school within the county of Merthyr Tydfil. Heolgerrig is a school that continually strives for excellence and sets high expectations for all pupils, aiming to provide them with the very best opportunities and experiences and a happy and enjoyable time whilst they learn and grow at school realizing our motto of working together enjoying learning.
As a rights-respecting school, we recognize and value the diversity in all pupils and realize that every child has different skills and talents and respect and promote their rights. We work hard to ensure that every pupil reaches their potential and develops into confident, happy, lifelong learners.
As a values-based school, we also strive to develop values such as honesty, respect, confidence, patience, determination, tolerance, and interpersonal skills to help them to succeed not only in school but beyond into adult life in an ever-changing world.
At heolgerrig, we constantly aim to improve working together and learning from one another as well as our community around us. We seek to engage all in our learning journey, improving as a learning community pupils, parents, governors, staff, and the wider community moving forward together to provide the best possible opportunities for our pupils within a supportive and stimulating learning environment.
We endeavor to involve our parents and community in the life of the school wherever possible and to keep you well informed of your child's progress. We operate an open-door policy and welcome you into school to discuss any concerns or problems. If you wish to see the class teacher, you may be able to do this informally at the beginning or end of the school day.
Heolgerrig is a predominately English medium community primary school and currently has 239 pupils between the ages of three and eleven. At present, it has a full-time nursery and seven classes from reception to year six, some of which are mixed ages.
