Our school we are all committed to promoting a learning and teaching environment that embeds the values of inclusive educational practices. We aim to ensure that education is accessible and relevant to all our learners, to respect each other, and to celebrate diversity and difference. We are committed to a policy of equal opportunities for all, regardless of class, disability, ethnic origin, gender, sexuality, family make-up, belief (religious or non-religious), or any other individual special need. We value the many different cultures of our school and local community and know that our school benefits from the diverse and wide cultural inheritance of our children.

Any incident of a discriminatory nature is treated very seriously and we have a formal procedure for dealing with such incidents. We recognize the importance of parents and carers as partners in their children's education and are very proud of the relationship we have with parents and carers. We ask that parents or carers encourage and support their children's learning by reading with them regularly and talking to them about the world in which we live. We have an active parent-teacher association called the Friends of Henry Maynard School (FoHMS).

We are involved in initial teacher training and deliver the School Direct and PGCE program as well as providing an NQT training program for local schools. We are actively involved in our local community and have strong teaching, research, and partnership links with local primary and secondary schools as well as the sixth form colleges. We raise funds for local, national, and international charities and have an established association with a neighboring care home.
