Welcome to the Gladesmore. Gladesmore is a great place to be - it is a happy and successful school. We are caring and work hard to nurture the development of our children and encourage them to do their best. We believe this is why many people hold the school in such high regard. We are proud of our pupils’ achievements but never complacent.

Gladesmore is an 11-16, mixed school with approximately 1,250 pupils. It is situated in the urban area of South Tottenham, adjacent to Markfield Park which backs onto the River Lea and it is close to Seven Sisters Tube Station.

Children thrive in our friendly, family atmosphere because we respect and encourage each other in a climate that prides itself on everyone doing their best. Our positive school ethos is central to our success which is promoted through the REACH values of Respect, Enthusiasm, Attitude, Cooperation, and Hard Work.

Gladesmore has become highly successful and heavily oversubscribed based on consistent and continual improvement. We have been judged to be 'Outstanding' in three successive OFSTED inspections. We aim to meet the needs of our pupils through a well-planned curriculum supplemented by a variety of enrichment activities. We have a strong emphasis on reading and ask parents and carers to encourage this too. We expect pupils to do their best, to behave well, and to push themselves to achieve the highest academic standards.

Our vision is to provide an outstanding round education where our students make impressive progress in a positive, friendly, family community atmosphere. We are proud to be part of the successful Gladesmore Community School. There are many reasons for our success including the respect students have for each other.

This promotes our positive atmosphere. We show great enthusiasm for learning and are constantly aiming to improve on what we do to exceed our previous best. We are very proud of our ambitious attitude and we warmly applaud commitment and progress. We value life and want all of us to make a valuable contribution to society. We are all unique. A strong feature of our school is the way we respect our differences and use them to make our education richer.

We want a school where we support each other to develop good social skills and through the spirit of cooperation, we help each other to succeed. We want a school where we can concentrate when we need to and enjoy learning. We want to develop as independent learners and make progress through hard work and commitment. We want the Gladesmore community to be kind and friendly and able to have fun at the proper times. Importantly, we also want our school environment to be safe.

We undertake a process of rigorous ongoing self-evaluation. This informs our School Development Plan (SDP) which guides our actions to generate continuous improvement. We are a forward-looking school, always looking to improve the quality of what we do and to build on our previous best.

• Strengthen personal development, behavior, and welfare of pupils.
• Improve the effectiveness of leadership and management.

Our Value Life initiative aims to educate our young people to stay safe on the streets and to take life decisions that will enable them to make the most of their opportunities to succeed. It raises awareness of the dangers of gun and knife crime in our community and how this can impact young people. Our Value Life campaign started in 2003 and has reached out into the community at large and is having a positive benefit on our Gladesmore pupil community in Haringey and also the wider community in London. Each year has featured grand events with different focuses.

The Stepping Stones program is an innovative schools-based, preventative intervention aimed at vulnerable pupils who might benefit from additional guidance and support during the transition from primary to secondary school. In the pilot phase, the project operated in 3 different secondary schools including Gladesmore Community School, and it was funded by the Mayor of London. The project has now launched across London.

Gladesmore provides high-quality education for girls and boys aged 11 to 16. At Gladesmore traditional values such as hard work and effort are rewarded. The focus of the school ethos is to promote respect and learning.

The school is situated in pleasant surroundings adjacent to Markfield Park and the River Lea. The site occupies three acres and includes excellent facilities for all subjects. The buildings and resources are excellent in all subject areas and provide pupils with ideal opportunities for success. Gladesmore has been awarded numerous national and international honors. And, as the leading school in Mathematics, we are supported by Moody’s Corporation of Wall St, NYC, and Canary Wharf, London.
