Christ Church CE Primary School is a one-form entry Voluntary Controlled Church of England School situated close to Birmingham City Centre. The school has around 230 children aged from 3 to 11 years old. There are six classes and an Early Years Unit. All classes have access to additional support from Learning Support Assistants and Bilingual support.

The school has three playgrounds, a field, a computer suite, and a library. There is a hall that is used for Collective Worship, dance, music, gymnastics, games, drama, and school productions, as well as for school lunches.

We are a Local Authority school although as a church school we are guided by the Birmingham Diocesan Board of Education. We are closely connected with Christ Church Parish and are thrilled with our new Christ Church. Our ethos seeks to promote Christian values and morals whilst being sensitive to the range of cultures present within our school and community.

Our vision is for everyone in our family to feel equal, valued, and prepared for life in modern British society. Our children will become independent and resilient learners in an inclusive, safe environment where spiritual fulfillment and success are our priorities. Believe and Achieve!

In developing a greater understanding of Christian and other faiths within the community, we seek to develop the personality and potential of all and to understand that we are created equally by God. We are committed to providing outstanding education to prepare our children for adult life in modern Britain in our locality by living in harmony before God.

By developing the social, moral and cultural, and spiritual dimensions of pupils the school seeks to equip them to make a positive contribution to the community. In finding time to be still and reflect, we seek to foster spirituality and a deeper relationship with God.

Christ Church CE School is a Church of England school. We have a distinctly Christian ethos, where shared respect, compassion, and consideration for other faiths are all valued and celebrated. Although many of our pupils are from other faiths, we encourage everyone to talk about their faith and share in faith celebrations in school. While our Collective Worship deals with Christian themes, links are made to the faiths represented in our community.

We believe it is crucial that children gain knowledge about the main religions represented in Britain at present as well as having a good foundation in the Christian faith and belief. Therefore RE is taught according to the local Agreed Syllabus which is also recommended by the Diocese. This involves children learning about at least the six major world faiths.

We have a beautiful Spiritual Garden where people can go when they would like time to be calm and quiet. The area is also used for reflection and stories. The garden was designed around the theme of ‘creation’ and some of the children helped with deciding what kind of things they would like in the garden. There are lots of different things to look for which represent God’s wonderful world.

The governors and staff always strive to provide the best possible opportunities for our children and families, whilst ensuring they feel safe and happy in a secure and caring environment. We have high expectations of everyone within the Christ Church family and know that with quality teaching, an exciting curriculum, and a supportive environment everyone can achieve their best.

At Christ Church School, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make informed choices, through a safe environment and an empowering curriculum. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advised how to exercise these safely, for example through our eSafety and PATHS lessons.

At Christ Church School we undertake to include all children and welcome those who are not able to speak or understand English. Children who arrive at Christ Church have encountered a variety of experiences that impact their language skills. Our children range from being fluent English users to those who may only use one-word responses.

Our teaching assistants attend training in school alongside teachers and they receive training to deliver intervention programs when required. We are committed to involving pupils in reviewing and planning their learning. We are working towards this happening more often in school.

Inclusion is an ongoing process that celebrates diversity and involves the identification and minimizing of barriers to learning and participation that may be experienced by any pupils, irrespective of age, ability, gender, ethnicity, language, and social background, and the maximizing of resources to reduce these barriers. Christ Church School minimizes barriers to learning and maximizes pupil participation.
