All Saints is a community school catering for approximately 241 pupils aged 3 to 11 situated in Gorton, Manchester, and we operate a one form entry school. We value the diversity of our school community and encourage parents and carers to work in partnership so that every child can achieve the very best that they can.
We believe that we have fantastic children from a range of backgrounds. We encourage children to succeed and achieve to the very best of their ability, developing the life skills that they need to be successful in today’s society. Most importantly we are committed to ensuring that your child is happy at school with a love for learning throughout their Primary School Years.
All Saints Primary School seeks to become a center of excellence for High Standards, enabling each pupil to explore their talents and achieve their full potential. This will be promoted in a welcoming environment of mutual respect ensuring each pupil feels safe, secure, and valued.
Our curriculum will be delivered through a cross-curricular approach, recognizing different preferred learning styles, that encourage and develop ICT and the Arts.
At All Saints Primary School, we work hard to provide a caring, stimulating, and inclusive environment to ensure that every child reaches their full potential. We are aware that for some children additional help or support may be needed. The following information is to inform you of the types of support that are available for your child at All Saints Primary School.
If your child is identified with a special educational need or disability, the school will follow the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2014. It sets out a step-by-step approach. You will be consulted and involved at all stages.
The school will set up a meeting to discuss with you in more detail your child’s needs. We will listen to any concerns that you and/or your child may have. If everyone agrees your child will be placed on the SEN list in school. This ensures the SENDco starts the Assess, Plan, Do Review approach.
Together we will plan any additional support your child may receive and discuss with you any referrals to outside professionals to support your child’s needs. The Inclusion Team will closely monitor your child’s progress and you will be invited into school 3 times each year for reviews. Your child will be actively encouraged to think about areas of development and how best to develop in these areas in school and at home. Support is in place to address needs and any modifications to this support which children feel may be helpful to them.
All Saints Primary School is a mainstream setting where all children are welcome whatever their abilities and needs. We believe that all children should have access to a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum, which is differentiated to meet their individual needs. Our building is accessible to children with a physical disability and we ensure that the equipment used is accessible to all children regardless of their needs. Extracurricular activities and after-school provision are accessible for children with SEND.
At All Saints, we know that children learn and develop in different ways. Teachers know and understand this and use different teaching styles to plan work at different levels, to meet the needs of all pupils in their class. This is called “Quality First Teaching.” We aim to provide the highest quality learning environment for your child and for them to achieve their full potential. All of our classes are supported by teaching assistants, who can support children individually or in groups and are trained to offer small group or 1 to 1 intervention where needed. Children have access to our Coral Room, for social and emotional support, and to our Speech/Language Therapist.
We believe that All Saints School is a place where every child can learn in a well-ordered environment where they feel safe. High-quality teaching and learning experiences will ensure the majority of children are motivated and behave well. Additional support and opportunities will be available for others.
Our behavior management in school focuses on the positive – we always look to see our children doing the right thing! Staff is encouraged to reward children for choosing the right option as much as possible. We teach children that they should be noticed for the right reasons. Children are taught what good behavior is by modeling and using peers as examples. The positive example of adults within the school also helps to support children’s development.
The children and the whole school community should know about, understand and accept our code of conduct. Parental involvement and support are a vital part of our policy. Everyone in school is expected to be sensitive to issues of race, gender, and the individual needs of children experiencing difficulties.
At All Saints, we have a restorative approach to dealing with incidents of anti-social behavior or conflict situations. We use this approach because it is very effective in changing the behavior of those who have harmed others. Punishment on its own is not an effective way of getting people to understand the effects of their behavior on other people.
