Albert Bradbeer Primary Academy, in the Longbridge area of Birmingham, provides for the education of children between the ages of three and eleven. Footsteps Day Care supports children from birth.

Our Nursery offers one year provision for children aged 3 to 4 years. Children can attend morning or afternoon sessions and all day for one day a week. Wrap care is available. In the school, we have places for 420 children aged 4 to 11 with 60 children in each year group.

Our Belief and Ethos:

• Strong families give children love, identity, personal history, and a secure base from which to explore and enjoy life as they grow up.
• The relationship mothers and fathers have with their children is strongly associated with the children’s outcomes both in school and outside of school.
• The relationships that children have with others, including step-parents, siblings, grandparents, and other carers also impact on child well-being.

• Good attendance, along with parental support = a successful child.

At Albert Bradbeer we feel that reading is the backbone to all learning. We use a banded book approach to reading. This means that we use a variety of different reading scheme books and books which are not within reading schemes. Books are graded by difficulty and labeled by colored groups. Ranging from wordless picture books to full chapter books, they gradually increase in difficulty, length, and technical elements. We also have focused comprehension lessons to support written and verbal understanding of texts. We also use specialist reading schemes to support pupils with specific reading difficulties. These are often high interest with low reading ages.

We are proud that our community-spirited Academy is now partner with one of the largest Universities in the country. We aim to break down the barriers to learning and raise children’s aspirations so that they can achieve anything they work hard towards. We have developed our partnership with The University to give our children the best opportunity to do this.

Our Staff, parents and Local Advisory Board strive to make sure that every child has an amazing experience at Albert Bradbeer teaching them to a high standard, celebrating our Nation’s values, and preparing them for life in Modern Britain. Our Academy is diverse and inclusive with a family ethos to it, which is an ethos that runs through the Academy chain.
