The Korea National University of Transportation (KNUT) is a public, national university in Chungju City, North Chungcheong province, South Korea. The university was created in 2012 by merging Chungju National University and Korea National Railroad College. Chungju National University was established in 1962 in Chungju, which is one of the public Universities that established after independence. Korea National University is the only public university specialized and focused their education and research on transportation and communication on top of Engineering and Technology. After merging with Korea National Railroad College, it has three campuses across Korea's main campus in Chungju, biotechnology and the nursing campus in Jeongpeung, and transportation and communication campus in Seoul.
With 111 years of history, KNUT is Korea's one. The only university specialized in transportation and is also a university coping actively with rapidly changing society and fostering global leader•creative specialist whole personal.
KNUT is one and the only university specialized in transportation in Korea composed of 4 graduate schools and three campuses of Chungju Campus focused on transportation information and logistics system, smart aviation and automobile, Jungpyeong Campus focused on the health of transportation vulnerable. Uiwang Campus focused on the future railroad.
To realize the concepts of talents such as 'Creative specialist' who accomplishes creative thinking and self-innovation through university specialization and has specialized professionalism in one's field, 'Global leader' who respects diversity and contributes to co-prosperity of the state, the world and local communities and 'Whole personal' who gains confidence from the state and the world by fulfilling one's mission based on sound values and ethical belief, KNUT is equipped with high-quality teaching staff and education system with various significant programs.
Started from Chungju University and established in 2012 through integration with Korea National University of Railway and Cheongju Science College, KNUT made 'Pursuit of Truth, Designing the Future, Service to Humanity' as its philosophy and is striving to foster creative leaders in each field through more than 400 professors, high-level educational system and various majors.
Established 'Connect the World' as university vision, KNUT was selected solely in Chungcheongbukdo region for 'IPP type Workplace and Learning Dual System' which is executed from April 2015 through February 2020, and is constructing a self-directed talent cultivation system with professionalism specialized in the transportation field, practical ability and disaster prevention capability which applies immediately to the site by investing 1 billion won of project cost annually.
KNUT also provides students with various industrial setting experience through a mid•long-term project 'Industrial internship support project connected to employment to medium-size businesses' and 'Project to foster university leading business start-up' and is also operating employment•business start-up support program by constructing a system that primary is naturally connected with field practice. Such projects will provide students with opportunities to enhance employment capability by improving practical ability and problem-solving ability. They will become an opportunity for companies to discover and utilize excellent talents at an early stage.
While creating citizen participation space such as 3D printing exhibit, experience hall, and idea factory in the approximately 320pyeong exclusive space, KNUT is also providing technical support for companies and support for the cultivation of basic•professional workforce, business start-up, business revitalization program, etc.
