EduCativPosted December 7, 2020SharePosted December 7, 2020 The National University of Kaohsiung (NUK), the only national university instituted in the millennium in Taiwan, was found on February 1, 2000. Following the government's industrial development policy and to promote the establishment of the Asia-Pacific Regional Operation Center (including Southern Taiwan Science Park, Kaohsiung Multifunctional Commerce and Trade Park, and International Warehousing and Processing Transit Center), we assist in upgrading and transforming traditional industries and train professionals in technology and management. The three dots in the emblem represent an abstract image of the Chinese character. Different sizes of the spots, from small to large, are like the growing process of a seed. It also symbolizes waves, which imply the surging force that moves forward. The emblem is designed based on the Chinese character rather than English words because we want to preserve our cultural features and ethnic origin when NUK becomes internationally well-known. The bright orange color delivers the intense, optimistic, and innovative impressions of NUK. Grey is the most tolerant and steadiest color that can match any other color. This emblem displays NUK's features: vigor, optimism, innovation, steadiness, and tolerance, which are also essential learning attitudes that students have to develop in addition to the knowledge in the textbooks. By utilizing our solid academic research as a strong backup, we look forward to becoming an academic think tank that can help the government develop industries and policy-making and the critical academic force to assist enterprises' growth. NUK has novel resources and equipment, young research and teaching staff members, high-quality student counseling mechanisms, and efficient administrative teams, making all teachers and students teach and learn in a diversified, high-tech, and comfortable environment. NUK enthusiastically upgrade our academic research, conduct virtual academic interchange with other universities in Taiwan or abroad, such as arranging students' exchange programs and faculty members' mutual visits to increase the opportunities for learning and collaboration. By establishing "The Institute of Kaohsiung," we have formed a strategic alliance with six other universities in Kaohsiung City and integrate and share all the resources and characteristics. NUK encourages the stimulation of teaching and research staff and students' research and development capacity to fulfill the industries' goal of putting theories into practice. We have signed strategic alliance agreements with different institutions, such as China Steel Cooperation, Metal Industries Research and Development Centre, National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium, Zuoying Branch of Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital, Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, and National Applied Research Laboratories. Besides, we also cooperate with the coordinators of different enterprises in our Advanced Business Incubation Center and deepen the collaborations with Southern Taiwan Science Park and surrounding industries in the processing and industrial zones. Based on the goal of building "a green NUK with environmental sustainability," NUK was Taiwan's first green university, which signed the Talloires Declaration and was elected as the "Model Green University" by the Ministry of Education in 2009. We were also awarded as one of the "Promote Environmental Protection Meritorious Schools" by the Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan in 2010, and were appointed as the "Wetlands of National Importance" by the Construction and Planning Agency, Ministry of the Interior in 2011. NUK aims to promote the construction of a university town and build a green campus without walls. By increasing the university community's quality and emphasizing knowledge culture, arts, and leisure, we hope to deepen the development of the greater Kaohsiung area.View full universityQuoteLink to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options...
