This University was founded by Dr. Chen, Tien-Chi, in 1966 under ChungTai Junior College. After almost thirty-two years, on July 1, 1998, approval was granted to upgrade to be ChungTai Institute of Health Sciences and Technology. Later, on August 1, 2005, the institute was accredited as Central Taiwan University of Science and Technology (CTUST). The university system is made up of graduate programs, four-year and two-year undergraduate programs.
Central Taiwan University of Science & Technology (CTUST), formerly known as Chung-Tai Junior College of Medicine, Nursing & Management, has a proud tradition of educating the region’s best nurses and allied health providers.
On August 1, 2005, the college was upgraded to University standing. The College of Health Sciences (CHS) is the largest of the three colleges. It provides six undergraduate programs, including Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology, Medical Imaging and Radiological Science, Dental Technology and Material Science, Food Science and Technology, Health Safety and Environmental Engineering, and Optometry.
The school has been focusing on medical and nursing-related subjects. Adhering to the school motto: “loyalty, trust, sincerity, and respect,” the educational objective of the University is to cultivate practitioners who possess both technical expertise and the dedication to humane care.
The College of Management was established in August of 2005. The vision has been creating health industry management (HIM), specialized students. To cope with the university policy, we establish the “HIM Innovation Cultivation Center” for students to learn cross-field knowledge and practical planning skills. It is also possible for the center to extend opportunities for student-professor study teams and of international connection. Important development focuses are on two pillars, including “certificates, internships, and competition” and “Innovative Management Case Study” for well-trained quality students based on management specialization and case planning as significant targets.
We are committed to the ongoing recruitment of excellent teachers as we endeavor to upgrade further teaching, research, service and industrial/academic cooperation, comprehensive education, and international exchange.
Concurrent with these goals, we have also set up a vast array of prospective research centers along with several rare and common instrument centers. We recognize the value of the purchase of modern equipment and the establishment of first-rate laboratory facilities. In April of 2016, the animal radiation therapy research center was established by the health sciences college. This facility will provide a new radiation therapy way to relieve the pain for cancer animal patients. At the same time, a center of objective structure skills examination was established by the nursing college. In December of 2016, a laboratory from the department of safety health and environmental engineering has gained the TAF certification of accreditation. As such, we have a strong foundation to enrich our research and development endeavors as we proudly undertake the transition towards a university of science and technology.
