The Asian School, Bahrain is a privately owned secular co-educational institution, officially opened on the 11th of May, 1983, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, Kingdom of Bahrain. The institution was upgraded to the Secondary level in July 1992. The School is affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi. At present, the School runs classes up to Grade 10.
The School is set in a sprawling 8.2-acre campus with modern facilities at Tubli. The school building houses 110 classrooms, state of the art science laboratories, computer labs, smart classrooms, a well-stocked library, and a Music Room. There are three basketball courts, a tennis court, two volleyball/throwball courts, a long jump/high jump pit, and a dedicated Kindergarten play area. The Asian School is proud to be one of the only schools in the Kingdom to have a regulation size football ground.
The School is also home to one of the biggest auditoriums in the Kingdom, the Dr. Abdul Kalam Memorial Auditorium, which has a seating capacity of 2600. The multi-purpose auditorium has four badminton courts, a volleyball/throwball court, a basketball court, and table tennis tables.
Our Kindergarten (Lower KG & Higher KG) curriculum is designed to enable children to develop a love for learning in young and supple minds. Adopting the foolproof play way method and using a wide range of learning materials and activities, these inquisitive and impressionable minds explore creative, mathematical, linguistic, and psychosocial areas. The tiny tots are encouraged to gain confidence in their abilities by equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to venture into new learning areas joyously. We nurture these young ones' cognitive and fine motor skills through a warm, caring, and stimulating atmosphere provided to encourage curiosity. The development of their tender minds through various creative, kinesthetic, and problem-solving activities helps learn to become a natural and enjoyable process.
In Primary School (Grades 1 to 5), our curriculum focuses on encouraging inquiry, exploration, and inculcating confidence in critical learning skills such as reading, writing, listening, speaking, information technology capability, problem-solving, observation, and self-assessment. The primary school years encourage and motivate young minds to become self-confident, self-reliant, and self-disciplined through various curricular and co-curricular programs. Children of this age group are active, curious, experimental, and imaginative, and the primary school curriculum is tailored to make the best use of these character traits for proper development.
In Middle School (Grades 6 to 8), students build on the foundations laid in primary School. While holistic growth is always the focus, the pace of academics demands is slowly accelerated, and students are groomed to embrace challenges while becoming aware of the need to set goals and have long-term objectives. Assessment in the Middle School is Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation(CCE), using various assessment tools. Continuous evaluation of a child's performance in class and the assessments are monitored and reviewed throughout the academic year to facilitate their continued progress. Timely sharing and discussing each child's progress with parents build a robust school-parent partnership that ensures that each child is developing in an all-round and appropriate manner.
In High School (Grades 9 & 10), a smooth transition from childhood to adolescence is facilitated by value-added education even as academic challenges become the focus and students begin preparation for the All India Secondary Examination (AISE) conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, at the end of Grade 10. Assessment in the high school section is strict as per the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation(CCE), using various assessment tools that aim and facilitate ease of communication between the School and parents to ensure that each child feels comfortable in the path of progress.
