Our University is situated in one of the most beautiful cities in the world! The second-largest city in Russia, St. Petersburg is rightfully called the cultural capital of Russia. A metropolitan city of five million people, it every year attracts nearly seven million tourists, of which about one half are foreign guests coming from all over the world. St. Petersburg was founded by the first Emperor of Russia, Tsar Peter the Great, as a multicultural city, always welcoming guests and specialists from other countries. Polytechnic University retains and strengthens this tradition, which has become one of our University's essential features. More than 6000 international students study at our University, and this number keeps growing every year. Polytechnic University has a very prominent place in the global academic community. The University is a partner with many academic institutions and industrial companies. More than 400 partner universities from 68 countries, over 100 world's leading companies have direct contracts with Polytechnic University. Annually, the University hosts numerous high-level international symposiums and conferences and publishes tons of scientific magazines and scholarly books. The University campus consists of more than 100 educational and research buildings, a House of Scientists in Lesnoye, the International Student Campus, 23 dormitories, and a sports complex. One of our main objectives is to train world-class specialists to work on cutting-edge production lines combining research, project, and business activities. At the present moment, we provide the best quality educational services. The educational system of the University has been completely reorganized. Firstly, the new international curricula in Russian and English language have been developed and introduced in co-operation with the leading foreign universities. Secondly, we are currently testing and introducing practice-oriented applied bachelor's degree programs, including interdisciplinary project work of our students based on the CDIO concept and involving our technological and industrial partners in the process of education. An applied bachelor's degree and a university degree enable our graduates to obtain a full set of skills and expertise necessary to start working in their major fields immediately and without any additional on-site training. Thus, the system of training "brand-new" specialists is brought to life and helps them overcome the challenges of modern industry and adapt to the real economy's conditions.
