Today, the University's main object is the training of highly skilled engineers and research and educational personnel and establishing advanced research and development activities in the interests of machine building and defense-industrial sector progress. The multidisciplinary scientific-educational structure includes the net of educational and researching and manufacturing centers equipped with the up-to-date material and technical basis and well-developed infrastructure. Today at the University, there are more than 5,000 students and 450 PhD-students (including about 10% of international students from 18 countries worldwide).
The acknowledged scientific and pedagogical schools provide the graduation of bachelors and specialists and masters, training of Ph.D. students and post-doctoral students, as well as establishing of the research and development projects on the World standard level. There are about 600 lecturers, among them 100 Doctors and Professors, 320 associate professors and PhDs. The buildings' total area is 60,000 sq. m. for the teaching process implementation and additional four hostel buildings.
The University was founded in 1930 as an educational institution but acquired its university status only in 1992. Nowadays, MSTU "STANKIN" is one of the leading scientific and educational institutions focused on training highly qualified specialists for various mechanical engineering branches.
MSTU "STANKIN" is one of the first Russian universities that introduced a multilevel education system, comprising Bachelor's, Master's, and Specialist's training, and has successfully educated students awarding them with scientific degrees and diplomas for over 20 years.
The Center for Education of Foreign Citizens. The University has been educating international students since 1952. More than 3,000 of its graduates are successfully working in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, holding positions of ministers, heads of large industrial enterprises and research institutes, rectors, professors, and universities leading experts.
