The school seeks to form students as candidates for Heaven, each one loved and respected as a unique person - indeed a child of God. To this end, we train the students to seek what is right, fair, and beautiful, educating them in an atmosphere of Catholic culture where the Catholic Faith is taught in its fulness, the life of virtue seriously pursued and academic excellence promoted as a real and great human value. Our patroness and inspiration are St Mary of the Cross, the first Australian-born canonized saint.
Saint Mary MacKillop Colleges, Wagga Wagga, was founded in 2007 by Bill and Joanne Andrews as an independent school in the Catholic tradition. Bill and Joanne Andrews became increasingly concerned about the state of Catholic education, and they saw a need for a school dedicated to sound Catholic formation and solid academic teaching. The Andrews have worked to make this vision a reality. After extensive prayer and consultation with priests, religious and interested laity, Bill and Joanne realized that the venture was in accord with God'sGod's Will. Several public meetings were held to gauge public interest, and the Conventual Sisters of St Dominic and lay teachers agreed to teach in the school.
Although outside the Catholic School System, the Colleges are regarded as an essential means for the spread of the Catholic Faith through the cooperation of dedicated priests, religious and lay-people. Our teachers and ancillary staff are committed to the Catholic faith and seek to adhere to the Church'sChurch's requirements.
Saint Mary MacKillop Colleges desires to serve all Catholic children. To this end, the school is committed to helping all families, particularly those blessed with many children and lesser financial means. The school's further growth and development rely on the generosity of our benefactors in both monetary and prayerful support. Our benefactors are remembered in weekly Masses at school and in daily prayers.
