While the Board has responsibility for the school's overall vision, direction, and financial management, responsibility for moving vision to comprehensive strategy and the school school'sschool's practical daily functioning is the Principal'sPrincipal's role, supported by the Senior Leadership Team.
As a community, we talk about the "closed hand" and "open hand." We hold tightly, essential tenets of the Christian faith, as expressed in the Nicene Creed. There is also diversity in the lived experience of faith today amongst those who profess to be Christian, and these are held less tightly.
Our teachers' care and concern toward students and our pastoral care program are grounded in our shared faith, reflecting Christian values. At NBCS, we understand that not all families share this world view for themselves, but they accept and support the school and appreciate the level of care shown to their child.
In everyday life at NBCS, the students experience Christian input and are encouraged to consider a personal faith in Jesus Christ. They start each day with their Student Team Leader or Class Teacher, participate in "Big Questions'Questions' classes exploring faith and life, and take service-learning opportunities through our Global Opportunities program, including selected students in Years 10 11 participating in the annual GO Rwanda project trips.
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him, all things were made. For us and our salvation, he came down from heaven: by the Holy Spirit's power, he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered death and was buried. On the third day, he rose again by the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son. With the Father and the Son, he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
