Montessori International College is an independent, non-denominational school renowned for its innovative learning spaces and highly experienced and dedicated teachers. Situated in the heart of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, just 10 minutes from the Maroochydore CBD, the school caters to young people from 15 months through to 18 years of age.
MIC's new campus is located on 22 hectares of bushland and is developing into an international benchmark for quality Montessori education. MIC is a green school that prides itself on its engagement with the natural environment and the local community.
Students at Montessori International College enjoy a learner-centered education. They experience hands-on, independent, and purposeful learning and the support of a caring and inclusive community. Surrounded by nature, learning occurs in beautifully designed eco-friendly learning spaces under highly skilled teachers' guidance. These learning spaces provide nurturing, aesthetically pleasing environments for MIC students to engage their intellectual curiosity and realize their creative potential.
Montessori students learn how to ask questions and know where to find answers. With the extra attention we provide in a small school environment, our students consistently demonstrate independence, accomplishment, responsibility for self and others, civility, and enthusiasm for distinction in all they do.

Our award-winning $8 million campuses create a new benchmark for education and sustainability on the Sunshine Coast and are quickly becoming a flagship for Montessori around the globe. We say that with a sense of accomplishment because our beginnings were humble, and the journey has been challenging – but ultimately incredibly rewarding.
In 1995 a group of parents and educators banded together to create the region's first Montessori school at Sippy Downs. Originally there were just 13 children, one guide, and plenty of passion. It was not too long before our success provided the opportunity to expand so more children could get Montessori education on the Sunshine Coast – and a decision was made to relocate to Forest Glen.
In 2015 Montessori International College welcomed 235 students – and for the first time, the children could start and finish their education at MIC. Located on 22 hectares (54 acres) of the most biologically diverse landscape of any school setting within the Asia Pacific region, students experience an environment custom-built to support the Montessori philosophy, with a ten-year college time the size of the previous school at Sippy Downs.
We offer educational programs for children from three to 18 years of age with a global curriculum that encourages creativity and independence. Children are grouped in three year age cohorts and are encouraged to learn from and teach one other. Uniquely designed materials allow children to be 'hands-on,' learn at their own pace, building confidence, inner discipline, and a sense of self-worth, forming the basis for joyful, lifelong learning.
