• Follow up, where appropriate, the pastoral care of students and their families who have or are currently experiencing crises
• Provision of counseling for children in conjunction with teachers
• Assist teaching staff with student behavior management issues through the provision of counseling, behavioral redirection, and an alternative point of interaction
• Be a resource to staff for the Christian Life curriculum
• Implement, on request, specific programs throughout the College and its community to address current and topical issues
• Systematically present courses in grief and loss to students in the College and
• Opportunity to foster and develop the spiritual well-being of students, staff, parents, and community
• Connect members of the College community to resources/services in the broader community.

• The Federal Government funds our school Counsellor through the Department of Education, Employment, and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). We are grateful for the blessing that such funding provides for Mid North Christian College students and families. However, in accepting this funding, we must fulfill several Australian Government’s National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program (NSCSWP).

  One requirement is that the services provided by the Counsellor remain a voluntary program. Should you wish to discuss the Program delivered by our Counsellor, you are welcome to make an appointment with our Principal and Counsellor. If you do not want your child to participate in the program delivered by our Counsellor, please contact the College. Another requirement of the funding is that the school maintains a Risk Management Plan and a complaints handling process that includes a complaints register. Should a complaint be received regarding the Mid North Christian College Counsellor, then it will be handled by the school’s Grievance Policy and documented on the NSCSWP Complaints, Register. Detailed information about this can be obtained via the office. The Program delivered by the College Counsellor is reviewed annually by the College Board following feedback received from an annual College community survey.
