We are a multidisciplinary and international higher education institute of approximately 6,000 students and 400 employees. In our operating area on the west coast of Finland, we are a significant creator of experts and developers, a propeller of internationalization, and a promoter of entrepreneurship.
SAMK's profile is based on the needs of the area, and SAMK focuses on education, research, innovation, and development activities, which support industrial restructuring. Satakunta area has a versatile, economic, and industrial structure. Therefore, SAMK has to provide research and comprehensive study programs in technology, business and administration, and social and health care even in the future.
All SAMK students will be employed. Students are provided with the best possible employment skills by education customized to the area's needs, comprehensive cooperation with the employment market, and an entrepreneurial attitude.

SAMK's functions are based on the smooth progress of studies and graduations as scheduled. Useful functions are supported by succeeding in applying for national and international complementary funding. The amount of complementary funding increases annually with an intermediate goal of 4 percent. The financial statement is positive every year.
Competent and thriving staff guarantees quality, effectiveness, and development at SAMK. Competencies are developed systematically with long-term goals and strategic decisions. The indexes describing staff competencies and well-being at work are higher than in expert organizations on average. In the feedback, SAMK is one of the best three regarding studies.
Teaching and learning are improved by SAMK's new facilities, laboratories, and learning environments. Entrepreneurial operating environments and digital teaching create new ways of learning. The new curricula are characterized by practice-based, work-related studies and various collaboration forms with the employment market. SAMK develops competencies related to an automation cluster. Also, SAMK is known as a transnational educator and developer of Maritime Management. Services for the Ageing involve multidisciplinary cooperation, and SAMK has strong expertise in the field. The focus areas are characterized by activities demonstrating the national pioneering, a significant amount of external funding, and a collaboration network of nearly 100 companies and communities. The focus areas invest in increasing Master-level education, international research collaboration, and export of education.
A general, peaceful study and work atmosphere should prevail at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences. Every community member is obligated to follow the instructions on general and work safety and the principles of good behavior. The same rules of behavior and pertinence stand in social media as in face to face communication. The rules concerning the use of information networks must be obeyed strictly to preserve information security. Everybody is responsible for the cleanliness and safety of the work environment. All operations follow the principles of sustainable development.
The students and personnel arrived punctually to lectures, agreed on appointments, took care of their duties, and maintained a peaceful work atmosphere. Problems connected to disturbances will be dealt with immediately. After a hearing procedure, a student can be given a written warning or expelled temporarily if he or she distracts teaching or behaves in a violent manner (L351/03 §28P). The cancellation of study right can also be justified by the SORA paragraph of law (L351/03, 12.8. 2011/953 §25a-b, § D)
