Located on a mountainside campus overlooking the Green Mountains, Southern Vermont College aspires to be a model of an enlightened educational community: diverse, supportive, environmentally respectful, and socially responsible.
Southern Vermont College affirms a deep belief in the potential of every individual. We embrace diversity in all its forms, fostering excellence, and personal responsibility in each community member. Grounded in the liberal arts, our programs prepare students to look beyond boundaries, engage their communities, and excel in their professional endeavors.
At the core of the Southern Vermont College mission, we ask students to look beyond boundaries and engage in their community. In the spirit of that mission, we support students who choose to exercise their freedom of expression. Disciplinary action for non-violent protest will not adversely affect the admission process for students applying for or who have been offered admission.
We think Southern Vermont College could be the right College for you. Here are some reasons to start with: Because of our 11:1 student-to-faculty ratio, we can recognize our students as unique individuals. And because our approach to academics allows you to get to know your professors and classmates, you become part of a friendly, safe, and supportive College community, offering a curriculum, NCAA Division III sports, and numerous activities on a beautiful campus overlooking the Green Mountains.
Pursuing a college degree is an investment that you make in yourself. Our job at Southern Vermont College is to help you navigate the process and fully understand your investment. At SVC, over 90% of students receive merit scholarships or financial aid. Annually, the College awards over 4 million dollars in institutional funds.
Southern Vermont College has long been committed to the premise that quality education should reach qualified students. To this end, the College serves its student body through a comprehensive program of federal, state, and institutional financial aid. While financing education's primary responsibility lies with the student and family, resources can be supplemented with employment, grants, scholarships, and loans. The amount of need-based aid available through the College is limited and is awarded based on financial need as demonstrated through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
All financial assistance from the College is subject to adjustment if the recipient is later granted aid from other sources or changes ineligibility. Financial aid awards are contingent upon the student's maintaining good academic standing and satisfactory academic progress.
SVC's career-focused curriculum endeavors on transforming students into engaged citizens with broad perspectives. Whether students find themselves drawn to Business, Humanities, Nursing and Health Services, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, or Social Sciences–the College's five academic divisions–SVC seeks to immerse students in the concept of becoming lifelong and dynamic learners.
With programs that allow you to get the first-hand experience and a strong liberal arts foundation, you will learn to be the type of employee that businesses and organizations desire. With coursework that supports you to become a thinker, a problem solver, a visionary, a leader, you will be a strong competitor in the job market.
College is more than classroom lectures, homework, and exams.
