There is nothing passive or conventional about life at SNC. Our status as Nevada's only accredited, private, four-year institution, and our location high in the Sierra, on the shores of legendary Lake Tahoe, all but guarantee that.

Action is in our DNA. Everything we do is dedicated to moving lives and learning forward to engaging students and helping them become confident, collaborative critical thinkers who are uniquely prepared to thrive in the real world. Four core themes define us: Entrepreneurial Thinking, Professional Preparedness, Liberal Arts, and Sustainability. And we bring these themes to life for every student through active learning processes that foster problem solving, teamwork, and innovation. It is a competition culture where students learn to think on their feet, communicate persuasively, and become active participants in their education.

Our mission statement was created through a collaboration of campus leadership and faculty to guide and inform the values and goals of our College.

Our education is a collaborative partnership between you, your teachers, and the College as a whole. Real learning comes when you are fully engaged in your education – not passively sitting in a lecture hall taking notes for the next exam.

At SNC Tahoe, we spend an enormous amount of time thinking about making learning come alive for each of you and thoroughly preparing you for the lifetime of opportunities and challenges you will have after leaving here. We will walk you and your family carefully step-by-step through the process to get the most available funding you are eligible for. Contact our office to get started — we are here to help.

Financial aid is any source of funds available to help students pay for their college education. If you think you will need support beyond your financial resources, you should apply for financial aid, whatever your family situation.

Academics at Sierra Nevada College are not a spectator sport. Here you will be a passionate participant in your education. You will explore, engage, collaborate, debate, question, critique, and grow into a confident, critical thinker, ready for the opportunity.

Prepare for academic success in over 30 undergraduate Sierra Nevada College majors. Explore the world we live in through Biology or Environmental Science. Share your insight and imagination through English or Creative Writing. Prepare to build your empire with Entrepreneurship or Finance. Make your world a better place through Psychology or Sustainability. Create and exhibit your work with Digital Art or Ceramics. Make your love of the outdoors into a career with Ski Business or Outdoor Adventure Leadership. Or combine your passions in our innovative interdisciplinary college majors.

You cannot escape hands-on learning here. You will learn in science labs in spectacular Lake Tahoe. You will join small group explorations in class. You will design and run business simulations. You will take part in community internships and academic symposia. You will execute original research projects. You will enjoy unlimited access to art studios. All this and more, in a close-knit community, energized by theoretical possibilities.

Our faculty have distinguished careers and professional expertise. They are here to guide, support and challenge YOU. They know your name. They care about your success. They will push you, encourage you, and prepare you for what comes next.

SNC's master's degree programs prepare you for a future that is both fulfilling and successful. Our graduate programs allow you to advance your education without disrupting your life. Secure your future with a Master's degree in Teaching and Education, and the practical skills you need to succeed in the classroom. Build a sustainable creative practice in our low-residency MFA programs in Creative Writing and Interdisciplinary Arts.

Your days at SNC – a top outdoor adventure college – will be ones you long remember for their closeness, camaraderie, and thrills as well as an excellent academic community. And our campus, amenities, and activities are designed to make those moments happen.

Whether you live in an on-campus residence-hall room with a private bath or off-campus in the village, you will be a member of an energetic, close-knit, can-do academic community where everyone knows your name and supports your growth. Our cafeteria, to put it simply, rules. No two ways about it. Delicious daily specials, soups, a salad bar, and a cooked-to-order grill. And the convenient, rustic setting of our dining hall makes every meal feel like an adventure.

Clubs are one of the best ways for students to be active on campus. Clubs partner with a faculty advisor and community partner to help fulfill the club's mission, vision, fundraising, and activities. Student Government Association (SGA) exists to be the student body's official voice at Sierra Nevada College.

Speaking of adventure, there is always something eye-opening happening on campus:

    • film festivals
    • cultural events
    • group hikes
    • beach outings
    • lectures
    • poetry slams
    • talent nights
    • special-interest clubs for everything from Sustainability and Golf to LGBT Pride and Rock Climbing

Off-campus, local hotel-resorts regularly host concerts and other big-name performances, plus the shopping, nightlife, and international airport of Reno are just 35 minutes away.
