One of the pillars of a Salisbury University education is community outreach and civic engagement. Each year, students in some 100 organizations perform more than 35,000 hours of volunteer service. Perhaps you have seen them mentoring at local elementary schools, reading to children at the Wicomico Public Library, or assisting with arts events on the Downtown Plaza. SU student organizations have provided support for community members with cognitive disabilities, collected food and clothes for the area's homeless, and taken pets to visit area shut-ins. Likewise, many faculty and staff support community cause personally as well as through campus offices and programs.
