Randolph College is a nationally recognized, private, liberal arts and sciences institution with a career focus in Lynchburg, Virginia. Founded in 1891 as Randolph-Macon Woman's College, Randolph is known for its excellent academic program, diverse, close-knit community, exceptional faculty, rich traditions, and growing NCAA Division III athletics program.
The College's rich academic program offers students a choice from 29 majors and 43 minors. The College also offers popular pre-professional programs in engineering, nursing, law, medicine, and veterinary studies. Two graduate degree programs in education enhance the teacher licensure program. A third graduate program, an M.F.A. in Creative Writing, has just been added and will welcome its first class in summer 2018. Randolph's Center for Student Research facilitates students' opportunities to participate in original and innovative research and scholarship.
The Center for Ancient Drama provides a unique student experience associated with the Greek Play and the internationally-recognized scholarly journal Didaskalia. Randolph's competitive and funded Summer Research Program allows students to spend eight intensive weeks collaborating with faculty members. The program includes all disciplines across campus and offers students opportunities to present findings at professional conferences and publish professional journal results.
In addition to an established and well-respected student-run Honor System that permeates all aspects of campus life, Randolph College is home to 18 academic honor societies, including one of the oldest chapters of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation and only the fifth charter granted in the state of Virginia.
Randolph College offers small classes taught by accessible, excellent professors. Students also work closely with their faculty advisors to chart a course toward their academic and professional goals. The learning environment is guided by an Honor Code based on mutual respect and responsibility for the students themselves and their peers, strengthening students' moral, ethical, and social responsibility.
Randolph education exposes students to ideas and cultures from around the world. Study abroad is an integral part of this exposure. Our flagship study abroad program, The World in Britain: Randolph@Reading, allows students to explore Britain while also studying at the University of Reading, one of the world's top universities. The College is affiliated with another study abroad program. Students also can take advantage of The American Culture Program—which is like study abroad at home.
Because strong writing skills are necessary for success both in College and after graduation. Randolph values and evaluates writing beyond the general education level. Faculty assesses all students' writing competence in every course each semester, and all disciplines emphasize quality writing. Each year, exemplary student writing in various disciplines is published in The Jack, the journal of academic writing.

We have got the dorms of your dreams. The Princeton Review even called them "palaces." Many of our roomy residence halls are mixed-year, so it is easy to make friends across classes. All come equipped with high-speed Internet and handy kitchens. Choose from tons of clubs and student organizations—Food and Justice Club, WWRM student radio station, Pan World Club—or start your own. There has to be another vegetarian, Spanish-speaking juggler out there somewhere ("Menos Pollo! Más Pelotas!").
The Wildcats are always on the prowl for recruits to our NCAA Division III sports teams, now fielding six men's squads, including basketball, tennis, lacrosse, soccer, track, and field, and cross country, and eight women's teams: basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. Our champion equestrian team is coed and one of the best in the nation. One of our riders won a national championship in 2014. We also have a thing for traditions—some ancient, some extremely silly, all essential. (Note to the Class of 2024: steer clear of the Main Hall stairs' right side. Just trust us.)
Our hometown of Lynchburg is a picture postcard college town with 16,000 students and enough tasty restaurants, clubs, movie theaters, and late-night hangouts to keep you busy for four years of Friday nights. We are also minutes from the Blue Ridge Mountains, a camping and hiking paradise. Schedule a visit to our historic, scenic campus and get hooked on Randolph for good.
Ask Randolph students, and they will tell you that classwork here is quite demanding. But they will also tell you that there are many sources of help: your classmates and friends, for example, a caring and supportive faculty and, on the fourth floor of Lipscomb Library, the Academic Services Center.
