The amount of state funds devoted to community colleges has decreased precipitously over the years, which, in turn, causes community colleges to look to outside sources to fulfill their mission. This is particularly true concerning institutions like Midland College.
The Midland College Foundation provides supplemental funding to Midland College programs recommended by the faculty and ultimately approved by the administration. If you and your family are interested in Midland and the Permian Basin's future, you inevitably must be interested in the continuing success of Midland College. We invite you to assist Midland College in fulfilling its mission to Midland and the Permian Basin.
The foundation directs significant gift fundraising activities and provides asset management services supporting educational excellence at Midland College in Midland, Texas. We serve donors (individuals, corporations, and organizations) and the College (administrators, faculty, staff, and students). We are responsible for soliciting, receipting, acknowledging, managing endowments and other gifts, and disbursing funds to benefit educational service programs at Midland College. The foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation. Our mission is to:
- Advanced education through the financial support of Midland College, including all of its departments, by the improvement of its research, teaching, scholarship, and facilities.
- Receive, hold, manage, and control property, whether real, personal or mixed, acquired by the Corporation by donation, gift, grant, devise bequest, purchase, or other means.
- Transfer or use all or any part of the corpus or income for the benefit of Midland College by the general or specific purposes stipulated by the donors, grantors, or testators, or, in the absence of such stipulations, for such uses as may be determined by the Board of Directors.
- Promptly distribute all net income over operating requirements to promote the educational advancement of Midland College.
Midland College (MC), also known as "Your College," focuses on providing higher education, community services, and cultural enrichment to the Midland community. MC offers a rich and exciting range of opportunities and services and a quality educational experience that is both affordable and comfortable. Every semester over 5,000 credit students attends MC at approximately one-third the cost of other Texas four-year public institutions.
Although MC offers two bachelor degrees, the College's mission remains focused on community college objectives. Courses in the College's academic programs transfer quickly to four-year universities, and MC's career and technical programs provide the skills necessary to enjoy a successful career. The excellent faculty and small student to teacher ratio of 17:1 ensure individualized attention in an environment that fosters student success.
MC is especially suited to helping students adapt to a changing labor market by quickly providing the training required by business and industry. The College often partners with local businesses and expeditiously develops continuing education courses in response to industry needs, thereby getting students in and out and ready to work.
