For more than 100 years, Methodist College has provided high-quality education for healthcare professionals. What started as a nurse training program in 1900, established by the deaconesses of the Methodist Episcopal church, has grown to a nursing program offering baccalaureate and master's opportunities, health science, and social work bachelor degree programs, and education opportunities for medical and nursing assistants.
Methodist College is a four-year, private, not-for-profit college affiliated with UnityPoint Health. This relationship affords our students clinical opportunities throughout the Peoria region at the UnityPoint Health hospitals and clinics. Our curriculum combines quality academic programs with real-world clinical and practicum experience to provide students with a comprehensive education. We provide a strong foundation in arts and sciences, supporting the students' learning in their chosen program.
We offer three options to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Pre-Licensure BSN, Second Degree BSN and RN to BSN), a baccalaureate program in Healthcare Management and Administration (Bachelor of Science in Health Science), a Bachelor of Social Work degree, a Gerontology Certificate program, a Certificate in Medical Assistant Certificate program, a Certificate in Nursing Assistant Certificate, and a Master of Science in Nursing.
Always in pursuit of excellence, Methodist College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), with the baccalaureate and master's degree nursing programs accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Since it is humble beginnings, Methodist College has grown to offer its students a holistic collegiate experience. A robust student life program provides students opportunities to get involved with student leadership, volunteer in the community, participate in travel courses that allow them to apply their knowledge in various cultural and hands-on learning opportunities, and build community with their classmates through social events.
Our students are supported in their education through the efforts of dedicated faculty and staff. From the first time they step on campus for orientation until they walk across the stage at their graduation, our students can avail themselves of academic and financial assistance advising, tutoring, counseling, access to their faculty, and technology and library resources to supplement and support them through their journey at Methodist College. The Student Housing Complex provides students opportunities to create a living and learning community while providing convenience for students who seek a college and life balance.
The college's Mission Statement is the foundation for everything that happens at the college in the classrooms, hallways, and the community. As the administration, faculty, and staff of Methodist College, we are dedicated to providing quality educational programs that promote a diverse student population's holistic development to become healthcare professionals. The college is also committed to civic engagement, community service, and meeting the healthcare needs of the diverse population it serves.
