It is easy to get involved at Kansas Wesleyan. We combine all of our academic study-away courses with intentional service-learning experiences—in the US AND internationally. At Kansas Wesleyan, students embrace the Power of AND in many ways, including engaging in their campus community AND the Salina community. Located in a robust city of nearly 50,000, KWU has partnerships with local, regional, and global businesses, at the regional hospital and within the thriving arts community. Salina businesses employ KWU students in part-time jobs, internships, and post-graduate positions in their career field. Students hone their skills alongside professionals in the Salina Symphony and at the Salina Community Theatre. A regional airport provides non-stop daily flights to Denver, which services 180 non-stop destinations.
Our students also learn AND serve in Salina AND the world, from internships in Washington, D.C. and summer Research Experiences at top institutions across the country, to Wesleyan Journey courses that allow every qualified student the chance to take a course in such destinations as Costa Rica, Germany, and Florida at little or no additional cost.
We know the integration of studies and activity participation produces exceptional graduates. National surveys affirm these employers want to hire former student leaders because of their ability to work collaboratively, balance multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and exhibit goal orientation. Our six-month-graduation surveys indicate that our newest alumni are becoming employed or entering graduate school at higher-than-national levels.
