As an educational, cultural, and scholarly center, EOU connects Oregon's rural regions to a broader world. Our beautiful setting and small size enhance the personal attention our students receive. At the same time, partnerships with colleges, universities, agencies, and communities add to our region and state's educational possibilities.

The Master of Science degree (MS) is intended to provide the student with a full graduate-level study related to education.
English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) is available at a graduate or undergraduate level. It can be taken in conjunction with the Undergraduate Elementary Education program or the MS in Education. It can also be completed separately at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Eastern Oregon University and the College of Education offer a non-licensure major in Early Childhood Education. The Early Childhood Education major is offered entirely online and can be completed in as little as two years.
EOU offers an online Literacy program at the graduate level. The program is available to licensed teachers who wish to add an endorsement to their license. Eastern Oregon University offers teachers who possess a teaching license the opportunity to pursue their Special Education endorsement.
We are a community. With a small campus, students and staff get to know each other and create lasting connections. These relationships create possibilities for our students to succeed in school and their careers. EU students are an integral part of our community, on and off-campus.

Eastern Oregon University was founded in 1929 by the state legislature as Eastern Oregon Normal School. In 1939, the school's name was changed to Eastern Oregon College of Education, which became two years later, a four-year degree-granting institution. The school's name was changed to Eastern Oregon College in 1956 and Eastern Oregon State College in 1973. The most recent name change, Eastern Oregon University, occurred on April 1, 1997, when Governor John Kitzhaber signed House Bill 2364 at a ceremony in the Governor's office at the Capitol in Salem.
