Cleveland University-Kansas City began as a chiropractic college in 1922, its roots planted by pioneers in the profession. The institution is proud to be recognized as one of the oldest nonprofit chiropractic colleges in the nation. Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III, president, a third-generation chiropractor, and the founders' grandson, leads the University.
C.U.K.C. has expanded their degrees to meet a broader range of health care careers while ensuring that chiropractic remains a cornerstone program.
Cleveland boasts a retreat-like campus setting on 34 picturesque acres in suburban Overland Park, Kansas, part of the Kansas City metropolitan community. More than 90 years of history, tradition, knowledge, and achievement went into the development of Cleveland's state-of-the-art technology classrooms, labs, and patient-care facilities, leading to a better kind of health care.
At Cleveland, everything is connected to well-being. The institution's mission is to promote health, wellness, and vitality. Ultimately, the goal is to educate leaders in chiropractic and the health sciences to be the difference in health care.
The Cleveland vision is to be recognized and respected as a leader in health promotion.
The Cleveland mission is to provide vital student-centered academic and professional education with a focus on life sciences and health promotion through education, scholarship, and service.
Cleveland University-Kansas City is made up of people who all want the same thing – to make a real difference in health care and others' lives. Cleveland offers a 10-trimester Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree that can be completed in just three and a half years through the College of Chiropractic. In our chiropractic program, we offer flexible training in many different techniques. Moreover, C.U.K.C. isn't just about chiropractic.
We offer a Master of Science in Health Education and Promotion (M.S.H.E.P.) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Human Biology. The B.S. in Human Biology is also an accelerated program with the potential for completing a four-year degree in three years. For those students who want to pursue a career in allied health like nursing, physical therapy assistant, radiologic technologist, and other health care areas, Cleveland offers an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Biological Sciences. With its accelerated pre-allied health science courses, you can complete these classes in just eight months and complete the Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Biological Sciences in eighteen months.
C.U.K.C. received approval from the Higher Learning Commission to begin offering the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) degree program. The degree program prepares students for certification and licensure in one of the country's top health care support jobs.
Another option is the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Radiologic Technology degree program. It ensures that graduates have met the educational requirements necessary for certification and registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.). Ask your admissions advisor for more information about these exciting new programs.
