Gebze Technical University (GTU)

Gebze Technical University, which has now reached a unique position along with the well-established and highly-esteemed scientific institutions of the world with the leaps it made, the projects it realized, and the goals it aspired to despite its young age, is proceeding with firm steps towards its goal of becoming an acknowledged university which emphasizes undergraduate and graduates education, university-industry collaboration and research of new technologies. Our Institution's primary duty is to raise educated, qualified human resources and offer the knowledge generated as a result of scientific discovery to the benefit of people. We have a different title despite being under the same law enforcement as the other universities is a result of this difference in our mission. One of the certifications that improve the quality and esteem of high education organizations and provide international credibility to organizations, Diploma Equivalence Attachment, was given to our Institution by the European Commission in 2009. Our Institution signed co-operative pacts with 35 universities from 11 different countries as part of the "ERASMUS Project," which proposes students' mobility internationally and whose activities were started in our Institution in the academic year 2004-2005. Our students are sent abroad to be educated for 3 to 12 months in European universities with bilateral pacts with our Institution. Since 2005 114 of our students have been sent abroad under this project, and 22 students from abroad have received education in our Institution.
Gebze Technical University (GTU) was established with the decree of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on November 4, 2014, based on the foundations and experience of Gebze Institute of Technology (GYTE), founded in 1992, inheriting and embracing its 22-year heritage. Gebze Technical University is the youngest but experienced university to become the most crucial hub for Turkey's science with its infrastructure, structure, and academic staff.
With its education quality and highly-qualified academic staff, well-equipped laboratories, research centers, and central location at the heart of Turkish industry, Gebze Technical University's mission are to continue its existence providing high-quality education and training to the benefit of the society, industry, and the region, conducting scientific research, delivering practical solutions for the society's and industry's problems without compromising on scientific, ethical and social values.
Gebze Technical University's vision is to become a leading university worldwide that shapes the development of the knowledge produced in fundamental sciences, engineering, and social sciences and conducts high-level education and research.
Gebze Technical University is located at the heart of the industry, at a critical location that connects Asia and Europe. It is a maximum of 1 hour away from Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Bursa, and Yalova cities and a 15-minute drive from Sabiha Gökçen Airport, and also at the center of approximately 20 million people population.
