Blekinge Institute of Technology, BTH, has a distinctive focus on IT and innovation for sustainable growth. BTH conducts education and research at a high international level. Engineering and IT are integrated with other disciplines such as spatial planning, industrial economics, design, and health sciences to solve society's challenges. Everything we do has three distinct perspectives: innovation, sustainability, and in real life, which means collaboration and exchange with both business and industry as well as society.
BTH offers student-centered and research-based education resulting in students satisfied with their education and in-demand on the labor market. We aim to become creative, knowledgeable, and independent, acquiring a sound basis for their future success after graduation. BTH is a university where the research is applied, i.e., the purpose of the research is to seek new knowledge to a definite application. Research is conducted in collaboration with both business and industry and society, and always with a clear focus – that the results will contribute to solving the challenges facing society.
BTC has a distinctive focus on IT and sustainability. We are firmly rooted in an innovative and expanding region. We represent quality and innovation and are perceived as open, exciting, and creative. Our activities attract students, businesses, and organizations and contribute to new and local investments. Both of BTH's campuses are located by the sea, which creates a unique atmosphere. On-campus, there are lecture halls and libraries and restaurants and cafes, student housing, a students' union, and the unique opportunity to swim in the sea, in other words – an inspiring study environment. Everything we do at BTH has three distinct perspectives: innovation, sustainability, and in real life, which means cooperation and exchange with both business and industry as well as society. What distinguishes BTH is its close cooperation with industry and society, which permeates education and research at the regional, national, and international levels.
BTC has many years of experience in close collaboration with business and industry, as well as society. The goal of our strategic cooperation agreements is to create long-term collaborations for BTH development, education, and research and to strengthen the innovation capabilities and competitiveness of our partners, students, researchers, and teachers.
BTC has several strategic cooperation partners. These include, e.g., several internationally active business partners such as Volvo, Ericsson, Telenor, ABB, Alfa Laval, SAAB and Kockums public partners such as Blekinge municipalities, Blekinge County Council, Region Blekinge, the National Board of Housing, Building and Planning (Boverket), the Navy, the Coast Guard, the Swedish Transport Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency. We also have academic partners such as the Royal Institute of Technology, Luleå University of Technology, and higher education institutions within the cooperation Lärosäten Syd. The latter is a strategic cooperation between universities in southern Sweden: BTH, Halmstad University, Kristianstad University, Lund University, Malmö University, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences/Alnarp.
Many companies and organizations have evolved and gained new knowledge by letting students examine problems or develop ideas. To hire students during their education is an excellent opportunity to get smaller tasks or investigations carried out while establishing connections with them. Our students will become tomorrow's entrepreneurs and community stakeholders, and we attach great importance to providing our students with the opportunity to establish contacts with representatives of industry and society during their studies at BTH. If you are interested in student collaboration, we are more than happy to contact relevant students or teachers.
When we cooperate with broader society, we can better contribute to solving the challenges facing society. One characteristic of research at BTH is that it is applied, i.e., the purpose of the research is to seek new knowledge to a definite application. Besides, we often implement our research projects in cooperation with broader society and always with a clear focus – that research findings should contribute to solutions to the challenges facing society.
