To meet the needs of society and industry, the Foundation of Textile Design (FUNDIT) was created in 1989 as a means to contribute to the Catalan industrial fabric, providing the companies with the best talent in design. FUNDIT is constituted of administration organizations, entrepreneurial associations, and distinguished companies from the sector (Ministry of Industry, Generalitat de Catalunya, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sabadell, among others).
We have been a cutting edge center in Design studies for almost 30 years. As one of the institutes affiliated to the Ramon Llull University, ESD Higher School of Design is located in a historical building in Sabadell's center.
As a leading school informal education in Design, ESD has been selected during the past two years as the first Catalan center for studying design according to the prestigious BBVA ranking. We are the only center within the Spanish State to give academic training in six curricular disciplines of the Official Degree in Design: Fashion, Audiovisual, Product, Interior, Graphic and Design Management (Multidisciplinary Integration), and we are also pioneers in Smart Design education. Through our courses, our students have the opportunity to obtain a double degree: Official Degree in Design + Bachelor in Smart Design.
Our best case is our alumni's success, the professionalism and drive of our faculty, and our enduring bond with the business and industrial sectors, one of our main propositions. We are defined by an academic and multidisciplinary environment, with constant activity inside and outside the classrooms. From our very beginning, we have maintained a commitment to those who dare to redesign the world and build its future.
ESD has over 14.000m2 of facilities distributed along with its Sabadell campus and its extension classrooms in Barcelona (Passeig de Gràcia). The educational areas include computing classrooms (with Mac and PC platforms), industrial workshops, manufacturing workshops, video sets, professional editing rooms for audio and video, and soundproofing rooms for proper treatment. In addition to this, the school has recently incorporated three self-labs and one self-lab equipped with cutting edge technology in the fields of additive manufacturing and 3D printing, immersive and holographic virtual reality, and digitalization of textile design and manufacturing.
