Korea Nazarene University was founded in Korea Nazarene Bible College in Seoul in 1954 by Donald Owens and his wife, Adeline, both American missionaries of the Church of the Nazarene.KNU first gained the status of being a four-year college in 1992. In 1993, the Nazarene Theological College Press was established. In 1994 and 1995, several new departments were added.
Korea Nazarene University operates on the education all concept and mission to cultivate leaders who volunteer for the nation and human society. We pursue cultivating personnel with personality and competence to help others with the belief and spirit of Christianity. To improve the practical ability and the concept of a university specializing in theology and rehabilitation & welfare', we practically pursue the integrated education of people with disabilities with those without disabilities.
We hope to dispatch talented people worldwide from this university by raising Christian professionals imbued with a good personality and academic preparedness from a global standard. Based on the faculty of Christian studies with three major areas, by opening up the most rehabilitation and particular education-related majors, including ten rehabilitation related majors and three select teaching majors, we focus on cultivating specialized personnel in rehabilitation and welfare. We have formed the basis for comprehensive specialized universities through general faculties such as social welfare faculty. With three undergraduate majors in Christian studies as a foundation, we seek to intensively nurture professionals concerned for persons with disabilities through general education and the broad university specialization of Human Rehabilitation and Welfare Studies. To this end, we have established ten rehabilitation-related majors and three particular education majors.
University focused on honing and cultivating professionals concerned for rehabilitation and welfare through our general social welfare and general education studies. In particular, we have recently established four health and medical majors, including a nursing school, to become a comprehensive rehabilitation and welfare specialized university. This establishes our name as a leading university in the development of theory in rehabilitation internationally. With a worldwide network of 53 Nazarene universities, we intend to actualize our dream by uniting our minds to promote that a life of helping others is a blessed one. A peaceful world is accomplished through belief in and obedience to the teachings of Jesus Christ. On the campus of Korea Nazarene University, we hope to create a world of hope where talented and dedicated Nazarenes with Christ-like minds can follow their dreams in a peaceful world where persons with disabilities and those without disabilities coexist in harmony.
