Established in 1981, the Institute of Systems Science at the National University of Singapore (NUS-ISS) provides graduate education, professional development courses, consultancy, and research services. Our objectives are to develop Infocomm leaders and drive business and organization innovation.
NUS-ISS is a Programme Partner for SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) 's Service Excellence Competency Framework. The institute is accredited by leading international and local accreditation and certification bodies to deliver programs that lead to recognized certifications and qualifications. NUS-ISS has achieved ISO 29990:2010 certification and is the first CET (Continuing Education and Training Centre) center in Singapore certified for the full suite of executive education courses. It also conducts research, organizes management, technology, and innovation update seminars and provides consulting services to the industry.
Our programs are designed in consultation with industry leaders. We have internships as practice-based learning, in all our graduate programs. These internships last between 5-months to 1 year, depending on the programs and study format. The substantial time spent with companies ensures depth of experience and benefit for both our students and their companies.
The Singapore e-Government Leadership Centre (eGL) in ISS helps leaders of government innovate and transform through e-Government education, and consulting and research. To date, over 118,600 Infocomm & business professionals, 6,800 corporate customers, and 5,500 post-graduate alumni members have benefitted from ISS's suite of services. Its programs are delivered by ISS staff with an average of more than 20 years of industry experience.
'Our Milestones' timeline brings you through our journey - from our founding in 1981 to what we have accomplished today. It records the launch of all our graduate programs, our industry collaborations and recognitions, and significant events at NUS-ISS. Selected quotes from our founding fathers and industry partners are also cited.
The Graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis program (GDipSA) is designed for non-IT graduates intending to craft a new career path in the IT industry. IT graduates and professionals who wish to advance their careers in their current field and recognize the need to equip themselves with the latest IT knowledge and skills to stay relevant may apply.
The Master of Technology in Enterprise Business Analytics program (MTech EBAC) is specifically designed to meet industry demand for data scientists who can help organizations achieve improved business outcomes through data insights. It is best suited for professionals seeking to practice at the entry-level and upgrading professionals with a suitable professional background (e.g., IT professionals). However, it lacks the necessary academic fundamentals to move into Specialist or Expert positions in Business Analytics.
The Master of Technology in IT Leadership program (MTech ITL) is best suited for IT managers, experienced business managers, and directors with IT portfolio management responsibilities who want to further build their career as IT and business leaders. It is also relevant to current IT leaders who wish to build an academic foundation to effectively innovate, lead, and execute IT and digital transformation.
We believe that leaders must align their e-Government initiatives to their national and organizational vision and inspire all the key stakeholders to embrace change and adapt to the fast-evolving technological landscape. Our carefully designed lectures, site visits, and workshops provide the frameworks and best practices that equip leaders to challenge the status quo and undertake whole-of-government digital transformation. To date, we have engaged over 5,000 officers from more than 133 countries in transforming public services.
Blending the disciplines, skills, and technologies required to make health systems smarter and future-ready, the Smart Health Leadership Centre builds relevant capabilities through integrated training & mentorship, stimulates cross-industry collaboration and co-creation, and generates applied research-driven insights to advance opportunities for a smarter health future.
We wouldn't be what we are today if not for the vision provided by our leaders over the years. 'Our Leadership' timeline highlights the current and past chairpersons, as well as our management board. They all play an essential role in providing strategic inputs to charting the direction of ISS. We develop and propagate new applications in leading-edge Infocomm technologies, combined with tested management methods and best practices, to provide insights and address real needs in specific domains. Our research results are disseminated via publications, teaching cases, forums, conferences, and seminars.
Our consulting services are tailored to individual projects, with a deep understanding of your organization and the business and technological landscape it is situated in. We conduct interviews with your stakeholders, partners, and customers, facilitate workshops and discussions, conduct customized training on a just-in-time basis, perform reviews and assessments, and provide advice and guidance towards a successful business outcome. We provide technical leadership and on-the-job-training to enable your team to develop the deliverables. We can provide the expertise to complete development in projects that involve the application of technologies in new areas. The nature of our consulting services is integrated with the depth of our expertise in education. Through the train-and-mentor model, we help organizations achieve specific results and take ownership of the outcomes. Working with us, your teams will be able to fully utilize and integrate these outcomes in subsequent phases of work, enabling your teams to perform similar work independently in the future. We are unique in our ability to offer you a blend of customized education and facilitative consulting to achieve this.
