The University was set up in 1953. It is the Federal Agency of Telecommunications' primary educational center, covering Siberia and the Far East. It is an excellent research center aimed at studying telecommunications problems and developing telecommunications technologies.
The SIBSUTIS is the individual school of higher learning in Russia. It has one of the best parks of special simulation equipment and hardware and software programs behind the Urals at its disposal. The level of computerization of the educational process is very high. The University takes pride in providing accommodation for its students, each of them having personal Internet access.
The Faculty of Radio Communication, Broadcast, and TV was found in 1954 when the Novosibirsk Electro Engineering Institute was established. At first, the Faculty trains students in radio communication, broadcast, and TV technologies. Recently, a new discipline Radio Engineering was formed in 1991. In 1995 Audiovisual Engineering has also been instituted.
Since 1995 the Faculty has been training students in the Design and Technology of Radio Electronic Devices. A wide range of specialties allows those admitted to the Faculty of RCBTV to gain knowledge in any field of radio engineering, from the design and development of devices to their operation and maintenance.
The areas of application for a radio engineer are as follows but not limited: radio-technical devices, their functional units, methods and facilities applied to develop them and do research, physical and mathematical modeling of devices, and research to be done to get them ready for production.
The audiovisual technique is an aggregate of devices and systems based on electromagnetic and acoustic oscillations and waves, physical properties of different phenomena in radio engineering and electronics. It is used to create, record, store transformations, propagations, and reproduction of information in visual and audible objects to satisfy individual and public users who want to have a business, cultural, aesthetic, and other information.
