Chelyabinsk State University was established in 1976 and had become the first university of the South Ural. More than 27 000 students are enrolled in 12 faculties and six teaching and research institutes. There are three branches in the CSU structure (Miass, Troitsk, and Kostanay (Kazakhstan)) and 13 offices (Verkhniy Ufaley, Shadrinsk, Kopeysk, Orsk, Nyazepetrovsk, Trekhgorny, Yuzhnouralsk, Satka, Zlatoust, Kyshtym, Yuryuzan, Ust-Katav, and Argayash).
Chelyabinsk State University is an essential high education organization that provides education for disabled and physically impaired students in the Ural Federal District. For almost 20 years, CSU has been making high education available for invalids and forming an inclusive education system for disabled students. Integral education for disabled students in CSU was organized based on both Russian experience and the achievements of international cooperation on the European Commission and international funds projects. Experts of the European Commission of Education called inclusive education for disabled people in CSU outstanding. CSU works on the implementation of inclusive education in collaboration with many different organizations on different levels: with regional and municipal bodies of executive power social protection services educational, medicinal and employment organizations communities of disabled people, public organizations, business corporations, etc
Chelyabinsk State University has been successfully developing more than thirty scientific schools. 65% of CSU lecturers have a scientific degree. Candidates of science and associate professors make up 51% of doctors and professors - 14%. The range of scientists whose works are financed by grants of European Commission like "Tempus," as well as President of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Education and Science of the Chelyabinsk region and scientific funds: such as Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFFI), Russian Humanitarian Scientific Fund (RGNF) increases gradually. Chelyabinsk State University always works on the establishment of intercommunications with foreign universities. There are partner relations and cooperation with universities of the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, France, China, Turkey, Syria, etc. More than 500 international students study at CSU.
