The University of South Asia is a leading institution dedicated to empowering the citizens of Pakistan through high-quality education based on employable skills, research, and commercialization of its research projects.
The population of Pakistan is fast growing to become the fifth-largest nation thereby creating new challenges and opportunities. The Vision of the USA is to train this large population and use it to the advantage of the country using providing them useful skills that can be sold globally bringing prosperity to the lives of the citizens.
The mission of the University of South Asia is to equip the youth in developing its vision and thinking skills, converting "Manpower to Mind-power." The USA wants to keep producing professionals who are capable of leading in their areas of specializations, becoming instrumental in the growth, development, and prosperity of the nation.
Educating and grooming of manpower in the fields of science, technologies, humanities, management, and health sciences, which would meet international standards. The institute will also cater to the provision of technology research and developmental support to important industries. This support is in the form of training, skilled manpower, and consultancy, which is crucial for further progress of the industrial sector in Pakistan, and other Muslim countries. The institute will also set an example to be followed so that other institutes of the same kind could be established. The institute will attract and refine young students to promote the highest values and to serve their communities with integrity.
In 1987 when the concept of private sector participation at the Higher Education Level was unheard of, the National College of Computer Sciences (NCCS) was established as the first Computer training institution imparting the most modern computer education in Pakistan. From 1987 to 1993, NCCS offered Short Courses and Diplomas to the students that would provide them employable skills converting them from ordinary BA degree holders to computer professionals.
In 1993, NCCS started the first-ever degree program in the field of Computer Sciences in Pakistan, giving it the name of BCS (Bachelor of Computer Sciences). NCCS taught 100,000 students in its 18 years of operations. In 1993, the college was awarded a charter with the status of the degree-awarding institution with the name of “Institute of South Asia”. This charter was later upgraded and was given the status of Degree awarding university through an act of Parliament in 2005 and was named “University of South Asia.”
The University of South Asia is a philosophy, a concept, and an ideology that revolves around the phenomenon of “Change for Better.” The USA believes that we should continuously upgrade ourselves to keep pace with the ever-changing demands of human development. We believe that problems in society must be identified solutions planned and innovative programs introduced to implement the solutions without any lapse. It is our conviction that even the ongoing academic programs must be kept under microscopic analysis and the curriculum be made a living entity with built-in phenomena of improvement and perfection. The USA is determined to bring advancement in every aspect of human learning.
