CAS Nizwa is a public college that offers a range of programs in the field of Applied Sciences. As planned, the College planned one of the MOHEs Centres of Excellence, awards degrees in Design, International Business Administration, and Communication Studies.

The College is located in Al Dakhiliya Region in the Wilayat of Nizwa, around170 km away from Muscat. The College started receiving students in the academic year 94/1995, and the first cohort of students graduated in the academic year 97/1998.
The College awards a bachelor s degree in three programs, namely:
- Communication Studies Program in the following majors: - Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media, Media Management, Advertising, and International Communication.
- Design Program in the following majors: - Graphic Design, Digital Design, and Spatial Design.
- International Business Management Program in International Business Management major.
College of Applied Sciences-Nizwa (CAS-Nizwa) is one of the six colleges of Applied Sciences governed by the Ministry of Higher Education. This higher education institution was first founded in 1990 and progressed through several stages. It started as an Intermediate Teacher Training College, offering a diploma in teaching. In 1994/1995, the College was upgraded into a College of Education offering Bachelor Degrees in Education (B.Ed). When the College of Education had trained a sufficient number of teachers, to the point that no further need of B.Ed graduates was envisaged, the College was then converted into a College of Applied Sciences launching new degree routes. This conversion took place in the academic year 2005/2006.
The conversion came as part of the MoHE's continuous endeavors to upgrade the offerings of the HEIs under its jurisdiction, thus bringing them into line with the ever-changing demands and ever-rising standards of the labor market. Students admitted into the foundation program of the colleges of Applied Sciences are required to sit for an English placement test at the beginning of the first semester, which is carried out in the Autumn Semester orientation week. They will be streamed into four levels (A, B, C, and D) in light of their performance on the test.
The Bachelor of Design program at CAS offers Omani students a unique opportunity to display ingenuity and innovation. It is a program that educates students in problem-solving in the most inspired way, focusing on both the academic and applied aspects of design. Being closely linked with the local industry, the students are continually being exposed to the latest design trends and styles.
There are currently three design specializations being offered at the Colleges of Applied Sciences. They are Graphic Design, Digital Design, and Spatial Design. These specializations are being offered at the two Centers of Design in Ibri and Nizwa. They are four-year full-time degree programs leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Design. Graduates of the Design Program will possess the knowledge and demonstrate the abilities which meet national and regional employment needs and contribute to Oman s economy and society.
The Learning Resource Centre at Nizwa College of Applied Sciences plays a vital role in the Ministry of Higher Education's educational reform initiative. The LRC's primary goal is to enhance student learning. To achieve this goal, the LRC provides the College community with current materials and resources, access to the Internet for research and study, and educational technologies to promote a learner-centered environment. To date, considerable progress has been made in equipping the Centre of Specialization according to international standards. The LRC will strive to take full advantage of its information resources and technology to serve best the research needs of CAS-Ibri's students and faculty. The development and enhancement of information resources that can best serve the needs of applied science research.
