In its 21st year of operation, Caledonian College of Engineering (CCE) is a leading private higher education institution providing high-quality technological education for the Sultanate of Oman and the region. The college has produced 1,841 diplomats, 3,386 graduates, and 90 postgraduates since opening its doors in 1996. Today, CCE is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious private academic institutions in the country. It has a student population of over 4000, comprised of 22 nationalities, and around 400 academic, support, and administrative staff, comprised of 21 nationalities. College operations span two modern campuses at Al Hail and Airport Heights, the current location of the college's School of Foundation Studies.
The college affiliation with Glasgow Caledonian University in the UK and a close partnership with VIT University in India. It also maintains over 20 other international academic partnerships, enabling students to explore their potential through the exchange, internship, and collaborative research. This approach has resulted in CCE students gaining recognition internationally, exemplified by the recent selection of a CCE graduate in Vienna's UN-sponsored space program.
The college has won many awards, including the Best Brand among Private Colleges in Oman (Business Today, Brand Survey), Best Educational Institute in Engineering (World Education Congress, Asia Awards), International Prize for the Best College (European Business Assembly, UK), Green Awards for Education for three consecutive years (OER) and Riyada Award for Best Educational Initiative in Entrepreneurship. In 2016 a brand new laboratory block, the Centre for Research and Innovation, was inaugurated by Her Excellency, the Higher Education Minister. This significant new facility provides specialized laboratories, teaching and learning facilities, and a wide range of modern equipment supportive of the college's research interests.
It is distinguished by competencies that include specialist engineering programs, leadership in process and chemical engineering, rigorous academic standards, and a research-driven ethos that brings dynamism to the educational process. The college has close ties with industry, and nearly 70% of CCE graduates find employment or are engaged in further studies.
Graduates of the college enjoy a high employability record due to quality programs that fully conform to the Oman Qualifications Framework. All CCE programs meet international standards as prescribed by agencies such as the Quality Assurance Agency, UK, and the All India Council for Technical Education. The independent audit periodically reviews all study programs, and a total quality management system is in place to ensure that high standards are maintained. This system's features include input from the Board of Trustees, external assessors, Academic Council, and assessment boards. International benchmarking helps measure success.
A comprehensive professional development program also enhances soft skills and builds on principles inculcated during the Foundation Studies Programme.
Research at CCE creates new knowledge and imparts excitement and dynamism to the educational process through the college's CCCI (Caledonian Centre for Creativity and Innovation).
