Šiauliai State College has proved that it has been acknowledged to be a Higher School in which qualified studies have been pursued during more than ten years of its activity. The studies are a practice-orientated modern and democratic environment of College that has been created.
Šiauliai State College offers more than 20 study programs for its students. The programs include biomedical, social, and technological fields. Such a broad spectrum of study programs has been indicated by the needs of the labor market and development perspectives.
In 1962-1973 Šiauliai K. Didžiulis Polytechnic School, which later became Šiauliai Higher Technical School with a branch in Mažeikiai. The construction study program has been implemented for 55 years.
Ten college study programs were pursued when Šiauliai State College was established (in 2002–2003), the number of which doubled during the existence of the College.
In 1992 students established their club “Rakštis.” In 1997 Šiauliai Higher Technical School, which replaced Šiauliai K. Didžiulis Polytechnic School, had 47 computers (only 3 of them were connected to the internet). In 1998 the first organized conference took place at Šiauliai Higher Education school. The scientific event was aimed at tourism specialists and their training.
In 2002 a group of experts carried out an external evaluation of Šiauliai Higher Technical School. It recommended the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania to grant the right to carry out non-university higher studies. On 1 September 2002, Šiauliai Higher Technical School became the Faculty of Business and Technologies of Šiauliai College.
Šiauliai Nurses School, which later turned into Šiauliai Higher Medical School, and in 2002 it became a Faculty of Health Care of Šiauliai State College did not have its premises till 1973 (it moved from one location to another five times).
The director’s office of Šiauliai Higher Medical School for the most extended term, i.e., for 26 years (1981–2007), was held by doctor Algimantas Baubles. Nurses, currently called General care nurses, have been trained in Šiauliai for 70 years already.
After the institutional assessment in 2014, the Šiauliai State College was accredited for a maximum period of 6 years. Children and grandchildren of the graduates of Šiauliai State College choose the same College. In 2016 6 new international cooperation agreements were signed. According to 1 January 2017, Šiauliai State College had 92 foreign partners in 21 countries.
